Marwell Hotel

By far one of the most poorly run and poorly maintained hotels. Left a 2am with our 3 month old. Moved rooms once because the tv didn't work. No real problem, then put in a room that felt like being in a loft space in the middle of summer. Was unable to turn the radiator off. We had all doors and windows open but could not sleep. Our 3 month old wasnt happy and we felt the temperature was not safe for him. Left around 2 am, not having the breakfast we'd paid for. Hotels.com have been less than helpful and the maxwell hotel management just ignor any complaint emails and requests for a refund. Beware of wasting your money in the poorly maintained dump!

⭐️ 1 Star – deeply disappointing As the groom, I trusted Marwell Hotel to deliver a professionally run, well-coordinated wedding day. Unfortunately, that is not what we experienced. From the morning onwards, it was clear there was a lack of organisation and leadership. My wife and her bridal party were left chasing basic arrangements, and issues that should have been handled discreetly were not managed appropriately. Knowing she was stressed and upset on the morning of our wedding because of avoidable problems is something I will never forget. The day itself was poorly coordinated. The wedding breakfast ran significantly late, guests were left waiting without clear direction, and the transition into the evening reception was chaotic. Despite prior agreement, the bar was understaffed, and several of our suppliers were not provided with food. We also lost a substantial amount of our paid evening time due to delays, including time with our photo booth and audio guest book, meaning we now have fewer memories captured than we should have had. Poor contingency planning meant key photographs were taken in a car park instead of the woodland setting we had discussed. What has been just as disappointing is the aftercare. Rather than feeling that accountability was taken, the response to our complaint felt defensive and procedural. Even after agreeing to a reduced settlement simply to close the matter, the process continued to drag on. As a husband, the hardest part was seeing the stress this placed on my wife on what should have been the happiest day of our lives. I would strongly encourage any couple considering this venue to carefully assess whether it can genuinely deliver the standard of organisation and professionalism required for a wedding.

Last minute booking for our family of four and we were so pleased with our visit. Friendly staff, lovely food in the restaurant, spacious family room & so nice and warm! Left feeling really happy, would definitely recommend to everyone and will be back!
