Matsue New Urban Hotel

We stayed at the Annex Koyu in mid-November. The room was clean and spacious, and we were able to soak in the cypress hot spring bath. My wife especially liked the hair dryer. The restaurant served a delicious course meal in the evening, and the male staff were very friendly and helpful, allowing my husband and I to spend a relaxing time together. In the morning, we enjoyed a delicious buffet-style breakfast with a panoramic view of Lake Shinji from the window. We will be staying again soon.

The hotel is located a bit far from Matsue Station, but closer to Matsue Castle. It overlooks Lake Shishido, next to Sue-tsuku Shrine, and across the water is the Shimane Prefectural Museum of Art. The hotel consists of a main building and an annex, with shared paid parking available downstairs, making it a great location for those with cars. Breakfast is served on the 9th floor, offering excellent views. Check-in and bicycle rental (free bicycles, electric scooters/tricycles require payment) are handled at the main building; you select your breakfast time slot upon check-in. The new building has an open-air observation terrace on the rooftop, also offering dining, but unfortunately, it closes after October. I booked a Japanese-style sea-view double room in the annex and was assigned a corner room on the 8th floor. The view was expansive, and waking up to the vast expanse of Lake Shishido was fantastic. After checking in, whether renting a car to cross the bridge to watch the sunset or simply strolling along the lakeside around the hotel, the atmosphere was peaceful. While not as lively as the area around the station at night, there are still plenty of restaurants within walking distance, not to mention a convenience store on the ground floor. This stay was a resounding success. From the parking guidance and assistance from the front desk staff, to the delicious breakfast, the service from the restaurant staff (even though I don't understand Japanese, their body language clearly showed the head chef taking time out of his busy schedule to explain information about Lake Shinshido), and the room's spaciousness, everything was incredibly relaxing. Of course, the cleanliness was also impeccable. Thank you to the hotel staff for providing us with an excellent stay. If I have the opportunity to visit Matsue City again, this will definitely be my first choice for accommodation.
