Very disappointing experience at Meliá Kuala Lumpur for Ramadan Iftar on 7 March 2026. We booked for 7 adults and 2 kids with Miss Aishah via WhatsApp on 3 March and paid in full after confirming the date and number of pax. There was no acknowledgement from her, but we assumed everything was properly recorded since this is a hotel. When we arrived around 6:20 PM, the restaurant counter told us my mother’s name was not in their reservation list. We showed the WhatsApp conversation, but unfortunately the auto disappearing message feature was on, so her replies were no longer visible. The F&B Floor Manager came over and said there were no tables and no space for us. He also mentioned that Miss Aishah was in panic mode because her husband had an accident and she was at the hospital. While that is unfortunate, it left us wondering why there was no proper handover or record of our paid booking. Imagine bringing elderly family members and kids for iftar, already close to breaking fast, and being told there is no table for you even though you already paid. Only 5–10 minutes before iftar, they finally gave us a table that barely fits 6 people comfortably, even though we had 9 people. The table was also placed right in the middle of the walkway with people constantly passing by and kids running around. It was extremely uncomfortable. The food was also disappointing (4/10). Many plates and cutleries were not clean, and most of the food we tried was too salty. But the most shocking part is not a single proper apology from the hotel team. For a hotel like Meliá Kuala Lumpur, this level of poor reservation management, disorganization, and lack of accountability is unacceptable. A paid booking almost turned into a situation where a family of 9 had nowhere to break fast. Definitely not an experience I would recommend.
