Ideally located hotel near Rambouillet Castle. Spacious rooms but somewhat dated amenities (TV, kettle). Very pleasant bar. A generous and varied breakfast buffet.

The hotel is very well located in Rambouillet, directly opposite the castle. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, although a refresh would be appreciated. However, several details marred our stay: breakfast trays were still in the hallways in the early evening, the requested crib was missing upon our arrival, and the staff member on duty that evening, while very friendly and welcoming, seemed desperately alone in resolving the issues we encountered. Breakfast was adequate, but could be improved (dry bacon, some cold items). Furthermore, no information was provided at the time of booking regarding the restaurant's evening closing time. How convenient! One last surprising point: the bar staff informed us that it was not normally possible to heat food brought in from outside, including baby food. This rule is difficult to understand given the hotel's stated commitment to families and sustainable development. The staff nevertheless agreed to do so, aware of the problem, especially since no alternative dining options are offered for young children.

Very disappointed! We booked at the end of November for one night with breakfast and two three-course meals at the hotel restaurant for December 31st. We were informed three days prior that the hotel kitchen would be closed, but they offered to reserve a table for us at another restaurant in town and cover €60 of the cost of the meal. So we told the hotel we wanted to book at Le Cheval Rouge. Finally, New Year's Eve arrived, and we were dismayed to learn, once at the restaurant, that the table had been pre-booked but not confirmed by the hotel: they couldn't serve us. Back at the Mercure, we were offered a table at the Italian restaurant next door. The meal wasn't bad, but seated near the entrance, we finished our meal freezing. Honestly, what a series of mishaps and disappointments for December 31st... I'm giving it two stars for the complimentary glass of champagne and the comfortable room, but it wasn't a good experience.
