Paris Midnight Hotel is a small charming hotel near Gare de l'Est. We booked an Executive Double Room, which was newly renovated and spotlessly celan. The staff are friendly. The breakfast is plentfiul and nearly perfectly adequate. However, the breakfast room is so small and cramped with only 12 seats that we found the self-service buffet and eating in such close quarters unpleasant. Had we known this beforehand, we would have booked the room without breakfast and eaten at one of the bistros in the area. We had originally planned to travel to Paris two weeks prior, but had to postpone our trip due to illness. Unfortunately, we were a bit to late in cancelling the first date, so the hotel charged us for the first night. This was, of course, correct, but since we arrived two weeks later, we would have expected some goodwill. Upon check-in, our ID cards were photocopied, and the bill was immediately charged to my credit card - so far, so good. However, I was also informed that my credit card would be blocked with a deposit equivalent to one night's stay, which would be released if everything was in order upon departure. How is this to be understood, since I had already paid for the stay? Are they worried that we might take hotel property with us when we leave? This hasn't happend to us before. Perhaps a deposit may only be required for direct bookings with the hotel. In this case, it would be advisable to book through a booking portal.

The room was clean by Parisian standards, our view was lovely, and the service was incredibly friendly. Since there were complications at my previous hotel, I had to spontaneously find a new one late in the evening and ended up here. I got a new room without any problems. The location is also very central; the metro and train station are right nearby, as are KFC and McDonald's. Our room also had a small refrigerator and a smart TV. :) There's also a smoking terrace on the second floor, which you can easily use at night after the main entrance door has closed. I can highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Paris!
