Mielparque Kumamoto Hotel

My stay at Hotel Melpark Kumamoto was a hidden gem, offering an excellent balance of convenient access to the downtown area and a quiet environment. The hotel is located on the banks of the Shirakawa River, which flows through the center of Kumamoto. It's about a 10-minute walk from the Shimodori and Kamidori areas, the busiest areas in Kumamoto. At first, I thought it would be a bit of a walk, but once I got there, I realized the distance was just right. It's the perfect location for a stroll along the river to sober up and enjoy the night breeze after enjoying drinks and food in the bustling arcade. There aren't many restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, but there are plenty of shops within walking distance of Kamidori, and there are also several convenience stores (such as 7-Eleven and Lawson) nearby, so I never had any trouble finding groceries. In fact, there's no late-night noise like you'd expect from a hotel in the middle of the downtown area, and the open, quiet atmosphere unique to riverside areas makes it ideal for those looking for a peaceful stay. The building itself is not new. It has the appearance of a so-called "solid, old hotel," and as it is actually used as a wedding and banquet hall, the lobby and entrance have a spaciousness and elegance not found in business hotels. When you enter the guest room, there are certainly some parts of the facilities and design that show signs of age, but the hotel is thoroughly cleaned and there is none of the unpleasant feeling that comes with age. The bed linens are clean, and the room is equipped with an air purifier with humidifier function, providing an environment for a comfortable stay. What I found particularly convenient during my stay was the facilities in the shared areas. There is a microwave in the elevator lobby, so you can heat up bento boxes and drinks purchased from the nearby convenience store. This is an extremely convenient facility for when you want to enjoy a leisurely drink in your room instead of eating in the downtown area. There is also a pillow rental service, so you can choose the pillow that suits you best, which is a great point for those who prioritize sleep. Connecting to the Wi-Fi was convenient; when I turned on the TV, a QR code for Wi-Fi connection appeared on the screen. I simply scanned it with my smartphone and was automatically connected, without having to enter a complicated password. The building is classic, but the necessary functions have been updated, and above all, the staff were very courteous, as befits a wedding venue. This hotel is recommended for those who want the convenience of immediate access to Kamidori Street and the tranquility of the riverside, as well as for those who want to soothe their fatigue in a clean, calming space.
