We stayed here after descending Mt. Miyanoura. It was clean, had laundry facilities, and a shoe dryer - perfect. Check-out was also easy.

First and foremost the rooms are very clean and being maintained frequently. There are washing machines, dryers (even for shoes, which is very helpful on the island) and a shared kitchen. The rooms are equipped quite simple. The tatami mats though are quite worn out. We had back pain after the first night. As we stayed in for 5 nights unfortunately our sleep remained uncomfortable throughout our time in Yakushima.

Guesthouse situated in central Miyanoura. The rooms are on the 3rd floor, above the Iwakawa fishing shop. You check in in the shop, you can also leave luggage here. The stairs are narrow and difficult to navigate with large luggage. The rooms are either wooden floored or tatami mats, you sleep on a futon. There's a large shower room with towels and toiletries provided. All information is in Japanese and English. There's a laundry room, the washing machine is free to use. The dryers are launderette dryers and cost ¥100 for 8 minutes. They work well. The guesthouse is an easy walk to the post office, supermarket, cafes and restaurants. Comfortable and excellent value for money.
