Excellent location and best base to visit all attractions in Kyoto. Caveat: you must spend 20~30 minutes and to study and understand how the Kyoto bus network works. The hotel faces south and is located on the south side of Kyoto Station. The station is vast with two main entrances, the South Entrance and the North Entrance. A passageway links the two entrances and although a bit trick to walk your through it initially it becomes quite to easy walk from one end to the other quite easily. The station has a lot of shops and eateries and many different bus terminals are located on each end. It is essential to know that Kyoto has only two metro lines due to its numerous historical buildings. So buses are the main travel means. Highly recommended.

This was my first time staying at a hotel in Kyoto. Check-in occurred after 3:00 PM, which is a busy time, so I had to wait a bit. Initially, there was only one person at the check-in machine and one at the counter, so I wish they'd added a few more staff at the front desk. (Another person was added later.) The condition of the room and the customer service were typical of a Miyako Hotel, and I felt at ease. However, the bathtub drainage seemed a little poor. When I met the cleaning staff upon departure, they were very polite, so I was able to depart in a good mood. The breakfast had a wide selection of dishes, and everything was delicious. However, I wish the hall staff had been a little more friendly, even though I understand they were busy and tired.
