Mokara Hotel & Spa

My husband and I were really excited for this trip because it was the first step of our honeymoon. We got married on November 8th, and with everything going on in life and work, we decided to treat ourselves and celebrate in stages. This was our first time staying at a luxury hotel like this, so we were looking forward to the experience. From the beginning, the staff made a wonderful impression. The first two valet attendants we met were so friendly and helpful, directing us where to park. Then we met Shannon at the concierge desk, and she was absolutely amazing. She has a real gift for making people feel welcome and comfortable. Room service staff were also kind and professional each time we interacted with them. We truly have nothing but great things to say about the people who work here. Unfortunately, the experience itself did not meet expectations, and most of what went wrong was due to unclear communication. I found the hotel through TikTok and called what I thought was the property directly. It turns out it was a third-party booking service, and the information I received was inaccurate. I was told we'd have a Riverwalk view, and that our room would have a soaking tub with jets. We also were not told that the spa facilities are not co-ed. Because of this, we were unable to do a couples massage on site and had to go to another spa (Woodhouse) instead. We had heard great things about the dining, but when we arrived, it was brunch with a completely different menu. Had we known, we would have come for dinner instead. The brunch food was not good and felt like a waste of both time and money, though our server was wonderful and took great care of us. When we finally got to our room, at first glance it was beautiful—rose petals on the floor and a romantic setup that made us excited for the evening. But when we opened the curtains, we realized our window faced a brick wall. No view at all. After being told to expect a Riverwalk view, this was extremely disappointing and honestly took the wind out of the entire experience. Looked like a prison . So much of what we were looking forward to relaxing in a nice tub, enjoying the spa together, taking in the view just didn’t happen. It felt like we paid for an experience we never actually received. It was about 400 a night not worth it with the brick wall view and food and spa accommodations. it would’ve been better had we had known then we could’ve made it an informed decision on how we wanted to spend our money If we had gotten the room and amenities we were promised, the room itself would have been an 8/10. But without a view and with the missed expectations, it drops to a 4/10. The staff was wonderful, and none of this reflects on them. However, the lack of accurate information and the mismatch between what we thought we were booking and what we actually received made the stay disappointing overall. I wish we could have had the full experience to give a proper review, but we didn’t, and that’s what made this stay feel like a waste of money instead of a celebratory honeymoon moment.

I truly felt like I was in paradise at Mokara Hotel. The whole experience was pure relaxation 🤩 a true luxury getaway. If you visit, don’t forget to book a session at the Mokara Spa. I highly recommend the CBD massage; it was absolutely incredible. Such an amazing experience and the perfect relaxing weekend in San Antonio. Highly recommended!

We celebrated a 2 night stay here for my 50th on Halloween weekend and everything was absolutely perfect! From the moment we entered the beautiful lobby, we were greeted by the wonderful, smiling staff ready to accommodate us in any way needed! Everyone called us by name and even wished me a hbd throughout our entire stay! Our room was gorgeous with a stand alone tub that offered a bath butler, we did this twice and I highly recommend it.. so luxurious!! Nice bottle of champagne on ice, large balcony to relax, the comfiest bed with the best pillows, (still would love to know name of pillows!).. Everything was exceptional!! Oh the apples in the lobby, THE BEST! Even the breakfast at the restaurant was delicious! Best part of course was the spa amenities and the rooftop pool with pool service, score!! We may live just a short drive from here but the service and ambiance made us feel out of this world! Thank you Mokara Team for making my birthday one of the most memorable!
