Moolack Shores Inn

Great location, comfortable bed, and a wonderful view of the ocean. Can’t wait to come back. Thanks to Peggy for easy check in.

My partner and I booked a room same day through Booking.com for one night. We had our dog so we looked for pet friendly hotels in the area. Moolack Shores came up at a reasonable price, so we purchased a night stay. During the booking process on Booking.com, at no point was there an option to select whether or not you had a pet, how many, or a specific policy- only that pets are welcome. Once we arrived to the location it was after office hours and they were closed. My partner contacted the after hours line posted on the door to find out how we get the key to the room that we purchased for the night. The woman on the phone said her name was Peggy. She was unaware of a booking and asked what room we booked, once he told her what room, she told him the key was hanging from the door- which we found to be odd as it seemed to be a safety concern to leave a key hanging from a doorknob that anyone could have walked into before our arrival. Once we checked around the room, we brought in our things and then I received a text from Peggy with the confirmation for the room and a picture of the pet policy and fees. Since we were unaware of the fees until we were settled in, and the office was closed, we waited till check out when I would bring the key to the office to pay the fee. My partner had left for work early the next morning and I got my things packed and prepared for check out at 10am. I took my dog outside to walk the property, go potty in the designated area, and down to the beach, before checking out. Once I was ready, I gathered my things and as soon as I opened the door to my room, with my hands full of my things and my dog on her leash- Peggy and her unleashed dog came charging at me and her dog charged toward mine. Peggy was demanding that I pay for my dog multiple times, in a very rude manner. My dog does not like other dogs to charge her and my hands were full, so my first concern was that my dog was not afraid of hers- then I turned to Peggy to let her know that I have not made it to the office to check out or hand my key back. I also was trying to keep her dog from hovering over top mine, while she stood and watched not saying a thing to her dog. She told me I had to pay for my dog once again. I told her I would once I put my things, and my dog in my vehicle. I went to the office, and I let Peggy know that Booking.com does not have an option to select if you have a pet, or the number of pets, and that it does not share a pet fee or policy before or during the purchasing process, just that pets are welcome. She rudely stated “well you’re the first to say that”. So, I payed the fee, handed the key over and left. Peggy accused us of “sneaking in our dog” even though we were transparent from the start, agreed to the text with the policy and fee sent the night before, and even walked the property and beach below with her. She is very rude and unprofessional. The property is decent, it is well stalked and clean. The view and the beach access were great. We would have made this one of our top spots if it wasn’t for this encounter. Be aware and read reviews and her responses to them as she is aggressive and attempts to manipulate the situations. She does not take responsibility for consistent/repetitive issues and concerns. Nor does she set an example for her own pet policies. I wouldn’t not return or recommend under the current management.
