Liked it a lot, very friendly staff,cozy

The hotel has a grandiose (and expensive) image, but it falls far short of its promises. The reception staff seem bored and often neglect to provide important details, such as the fact that the spa is cold if you don't book in advance (the whirlpool/hydromassage is always cold). The only exception was the front desk manager, who made a genuine effort to find a vegetarian restaurant. In Grindelwald, you can buy your ski pass directly at the hotel – not so in Davos. What surprises me is this survey – because nobody seemed to care at checkout. The building is rambling, the decor is outdated and drab, even in the rooms. Room number 1 was apparently once a basement room – with a window overlooking the courtyard: the entire dental conference could see into my bed! I had no view and hardly any natural light. The minibar didn't work, neither did the scales, the shower head wouldn't stay in place, and the shower screen is so small that I flooded the bathroom when I washed my hair. Why do hotels have bathtubs instead of showers? I find the "paranoid clothes hangers" that can only be used on the railing particularly embarrassing! The breakfast buffet was plentiful, but it could have stayed open a bit longer on Sundays. Making your own smoothies is fun. The lanky waiter simply handed me a scorching hot plate – he was holding it with a cloth... Thanks a lot! The Eggs Benedict were truly awful: the yolk should be runny, not the white! And why can't a place like this make its own hollandaise sauce? The bar is pretty, but they can't even make an Old Cuban. Meanwhile, a Negroni Sbagliato costs CHF 17, which is outrageous even by Zurich standards! And finally: when we, as doctors, provided first aid to an injured guest in the pool (which is in a separate building), we received no acknowledgment whatsoever. That's just Swiss hospitality for you: very expensive and very mediocre.

Mr. Huber from the front desk turns this 4-star hotel into a 5-star experience!
