Motel 6 Normal, IL - Bloomington Area

Sigh……Where do I start? If I could give this place 0 stars that would still be too many. This place is a total nightmare. First of all….the online pics give this place so much more grace than it deserves. This hotel looks beat up and rundown, and I thought I was being pranked when my uber driver pulled up to it and saw it in person compared to the pictures. They have bulletproof glass in the lobby and that should tell you all that you need to know. The staff at the front desk are all very offputting and distant. No hospitality at all. I was staying here due to a delay in my travels and my company paid for this room. They accidentally booked a handicapped room and I was OK with that because it was the least expensive option. He also explained to me that there was a $20 early check-in fee that had to be paid because my reservation was booked online. I didn’t have a problem with it so I paid it Upon my arrival, the front desk guy was very dry. He gave me my key and nobody offered to help carry or assist me with my bags. Walking into this place felt like it was a former prison or something. No exaggeration….it looks like a penitentiary!! When I arrived at my room, it had a god-awful smell. It reeked of urine and feces as if the toilet had overflowed and they only mopped up instead of disinfecting. The smell made me gag something awful!! I immediately went to the front desk and requested another room, which he complied, but not without pushback. He tells me that he can’t accommodate me another time because he’s limited on handicap rooms. In my mind, I’m thinking, “sir you can’t have people sleep in smelly rooms regardless of what’s available” and he was lucky I didn’t call corporate for that biohazard!! I didn’t say that because I was too tired. I went to my new room and everything was fine with the exception of the excessively chipped paint in the shower and the drapes would not close so I basically had to sleep under my covers so nobody would look into my room because my window was literally right by the exit door…….which btw….slammed very loudly everytime someone walked in or out. A few days later, it was time for me to check out, so I grabbed my bags and headed to the front. I found out that my trip was delayed even further, so my company rebooked my room at this same hotel. I literally never left the lobby……. I turned to the front desk guy (Same guy who checked me in the first time) And he stated that he still had to charge me another $20 early check-in fee. I explained to him that I was going back to the same room and he tells me that he had to charge me another $20 check-in fee because I had already checked out of my old room……ok whatever!! I paid it….. Then he tells me that my old room is not available so he moves me to the second floor. After moving me to the second floor, I walk into a slightly nicer room and as I’m preparing to sit down at the table with my computer, I see two roaches come from under the conjoined door (room next door) into my room. Naturally, I picked up my bags and I stepped on the roaches. At this point, I’m livid because this is beyond disgusting. So I do a full room inspection and as I pull back, the covers on the mattress I see that the mattress cover is visibly stained with some sort of “red” stuff……. I could not tell if this was ketchup or bodily fluid, but it looked disgusting I took pictures and went to the front desk and there was now a lady there. She phoned the other guy and he simply told her to put me into a new room. They moved me down the hall, and I had no issues with the new room, but at this point, I was pretty fed up. My experience at this hotel was very poor!! The management here has zero customer service skills!! Their maintenance team needs to be fired and they are doing a terrible job at pest control!! I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anybody AND IF I WERE MOTEL 6 CORPORATE, I WOULD DEFINITELY DO A RANDOM DROP-IN

Bedbugs. They gave me bed bugs. Now try and tell me somehow different they gave me bedbugs.

It was affordable and easy to book!
