Motel One Berlin - Potsdamer Platz

Very close to the TV tower at Alexanderplatz. Good breakfast.

We've already visited several Motel Ones, and generally, the one at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin is also good... Which brings us to the word "generally." We stayed at the hotel over the weekend. We booked in January. We received an email about the renovations 2(!) days in advance. During the day, there's a lot of drilling and hammering going on. It didn't bother us personally, as we were only there to stay overnight and have breakfast. Which brings us to the topic of breakfast. Generally, it's great as always. But only generally. In the extremely small breakfast room, you can only access it via the patio door on the terrace. And that's exactly where the absolutely unpleasant breakfast experience, which I always consider a highlight at Motel Ones, begins! Unfortunately, the door can't be closed completely. With 14 degrees outside and windy, the room is extremely drafty, and some of the already limited seating is barely usable because you're sitting in the cold. Since there are apparently enough people in this world, or precisely this weekend in Berlin, who simply leave the door wide open, it kept getting cold in the room, or you were sitting in a draft... The breakfast staff tried very hard, but they just can't take care of everything at once. Considering the price of breakfast, this is an absolute disgrace from the hotel. And the hotel hasn't done anything except, we know, a few people have already complained... Ah yes... So apparently they don't want to change anything, and the guest is just "out of luck."

The hotel is located directly across from the Federal Council building at the Mall of Berlin. Nevertheless, the rooms are quiet, and the service is impeccable, as you'd expect from a MotelOne. Construction work is currently underway, which is why the breakfast room is significantly smaller than usual.
