Moxy Kyoto Nijo

I stayed here on a weekend in January 2026. Perhaps due to the international situation, the room rate was getting cheaper day by day, and I was able to stay at a price I had never seen before in Kyoto. The hotel is conveniently located right in front of the JR station, and the subway entrance is just across the street. The bus stop is also very close by. It all depends on how you use it, but if you don't have any particular preferences for the area, I thought this hotel was a good choice, with a surprisingly good balance of price and accessibility. The front desk was the same as Moxy's. The friendly staff assisted me efficiently. The room design is also in the Moxy style, of course. The lack of a bathtub is a weak point, but it's Moxy, so I just accepted it. As others have written, the overall atmosphere of the hotel made me want to ask, "Is it okay to speak Japanese?" I enjoyed that as well. I debated whether to have breakfast in the hotel, but there's a shopping street nearby, so I had breakfast at a cafe there. (I knew the Moxy's breakfast was pretty good for the price, so I would have been fine with breakfast inside the hotel.) All rooms are non-smoking, and the smoking area is outside. It wasn't clearly marked as a smoking area, and there was an ashtray next to a pillar. Overall, it's convenient for transportation, easy to find shopping and dining, and reasonably priced, so if you're looking for a casual place for two close friends to stay for one night, this place is perfectly fine. (Of course, you can also stay alone.) If you're looking for a fancy breakfast buffet or a room, look elsewhere. I'm sure I'll find myself in Kyoto again soon, so I'll definitely use this place!

Jan, Feb 2026 I stayed here for a total of three nights, in mid-January and late February. It's conveniently located right outside Nijo Station, near Kyoto Station. The staff were very courteous and impressive. Though it's a casual brand, I felt the quality of service rivaled that of a luxury hotel. The rooms are only available in two sizes, 17 and 18 square meters, so they're not particularly spacious, but the beds were comfortable and I was more than satisfied. While the breakfast was average in my opinion, the a la carte dishes I ordered for lunch and dinner (beef bowls and pasta) were delicious and a great value. If I have the opportunity to visit Kyoto on business or vacation, I'd definitely consider staying at this hotel again.
