Overall This is NOT a luxury hotel. I booked it assuming it was but it’s absolutely not. If I’m being generous it’s similar to an oddly pretentious Holiday Inn. After the issues with my room below I was moved to a room that was significantly better for which I was thankful. Earlier in my trip I stayed at Bairro Alto Hotel which was actually a luxury hotel. I would highly recommend that for just a bit more than this hotel if you’re used to real luxury hotels. If you’re looking for a budget hotel pretending to be fancy - this is the place for you! I was hoping for a luxury hotel closer to the airport and this was the best I could find, but I’ll stay downtown next time. The one redeeming quality for this hotel is its views. They are very nice. Booking/Check-In/Out - I booked directly with the hotel and entered my credit card # at time of booking. - I got an email from Expedia telling me I needed to make a payment within 24 hours. Easy to miss when you already thought you paid and don’t book through Expedia. I called to confirm it’s not a scam. It’s not. Apparently they do nothing with the card that’s entered at booking. I re-enter my card. - The day before I got an email asking me to “check-in.” No option to translate the site - not a problem - I figure it out and enter my passport information as well as arrival time (again). - I arrive at the hotel. They asked for my passport. I noted that I entered that online. They then check and acknowledge that they do have it and I don’t need to dig it out again. They do, however, make me swipe my credit card again for incidentals. The twice I’d given them my card information previously was apparently not enough. - After my spa appt they say that unfortunately they can’t put it on my room because there is no card on file. I explain that I’ve provided my card 3 times now and she calls the front desk and miraculously gets it fixed. - Upon check-out they asked me for my credit card again (#4) and I explained I had already given it but he said he had to scan it again. So I dug it out and then he told me he actually didn’t need it because it was on file. 🤦‍♀️ Room - The room was old and carpeted around the tub/shower and smelled slightly funny in addition to a number of other issues. - One of the two biggest issues is that despite me setting the AC to 15 C, the thermostat said it was 23 in the room, but felt more like 24-24.5 to me (now I don’t need the room at 15 c but I need it cooler than 23 C) - The second (and probably biggest) issue was that the deadbolt wouldn’t lock. I braced a chair there to take a shower. - The shower flooded the CARPETED room (explains the smell). So I can only imagine the carpet is hiding a ton of mold. - Other issues include it being very dirty, a tear in the linens, a blowdrier that you have to hold down a button to have blow hot air (maybe not an issue for some but I have a lot of hair), a cracked sink, slow draining tub, very poor lighting, etc. Spa - Fine services. I’ve never had a facial in Portugal before so perhaps it’s normal that they don’t use steam, but it surprised me as I’m not sure how they open your pores without it. - There was a lot of time where my therapist was doing other things. One time she left the room all together and left the door open while I was on the table. - They tried to upsell me on a lotion that cost as much as the facial 😂. Restaurant - Tried to have a glass of wine and enjoy the view around lunch time. Was told I could not sit outside (fine) or by the window (pretty disappointing). I could only sit in one of four dungeon like booths. I left and found a different place with a view of the water to have my wine. - Dinner was nice and my server was lovely. Side note: Their Michelin restaurant was closed the night I was there leaving me intensely curious about its quality.

The view is amazing 😊

Ideal for a romantic getaway, the view over the Tagus River is wonderful, and the swing in the room is the icing on the cake. We also enjoyed a couples massage, which was excellent; Saff was very friendly. The spa area is very good; the view adds a lot of value, as it's not a dark place, it has a lot of light which makes it even more special.
