Bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. Being right on Canal Street is super convenient and puts you in the middle of everything, but the party really does go all night, and even from the 35th floor I could hear it (bless). Things I loved about this hotel: - Comfortable mattress, pillows, and linens. - Excellent climate control. - Great view from my river room. - Nice amenities, including a solid hotel bar. - Top-notch conference spaces. - Clean and very centrally located. - Lots of soft, downward lighting in the room, which made it feel relaxed and homey after long days out. Accessibility note: The main entrance on Canal Street has stairs only. I did not see a ramp at that entrance, so guests using wheelchairs or mobility aids may need to ask about alternative access points. A great place to stay if you want to be in the heart of the action and still come back to a comfortable, well-run hotel.

I’m a lifetime Marriott Gold Bonvoy member and have stayed at many Marriott’s in the past 25 years but have never had such a horrible experience with billing at a hotel - Marriott or not. We chose this hotel because of its location & the pleasant experiences I’ve had in the past. Throughout the stay I was seeing strange charges on my Marriott credit card as well as on my Marriott Bonvoy app. There was the initial prepaid room then there was a credit of -237.50 and then an amount for what I assumed was the room security deposit (which dropped off later) . After checkout, I later noticed that my bill on the app showed the $996 prepaid amount and -$237 credit reducing the total to $732 on my final folio. What a pleasant surprise! I assumed it would be part of a promotion. I then decided to contact Accounting to check on what the credit was for. I told it was because they made a mistake and only charged me the half rate for the basic room charges. She said that they were going to honor that credit because it was their mistake. I thought It was so nice of them! I proceeded to send them a nice letter stating how I am glad to be a Marriott Bonvoy member with this kind of service and I also refunded my guest her half of that refund. She was ecstatic as well and probably would’ve loved to become a Marriott member until the following happened. Later I checked my Credit Card and saw that now there was also an extra amount for $400+. I tried to contact accounting the rest of the morning so they could fix the bill but I could not get through so I brought my credit card statement to the hotel directly and met with accounting. She took a copy of it with her because she could not figure out what that amount was for either, and it was not on the folio. She sent me an email later that day telling me because I brought in that statement, she was able to find the cause of the refund . They had split the folio between guests and that this is done automatically whenever there’s more than one guest in the hotel room?!?! Really???? I’ve never heard of any hotel having that kind of policy!!! Who does that? I suppose if I had my children with me each of them would’ve got their own room folio as well? Ridiculous!!! I was never alerted to this at all. My bill on the Marriott app to this day, still shows the $732 final charge for my room and nothing further. Apparently they signed up my guest as a separate account on the folio and even though I was using my Marriott card for the whole prepaid reservation they separated out charges on two different folios and my bill only shows my amount. I don’t even have access to see “her” folio since it’s her account! Of course MY credit card still shows her amount but My Marriott Bonvoy app hotel bill still does not show anything but my $732 charge. That is not accurate and I don’t like the fact that the two do not reconcile. I get that they made a mistake but when I was told I would not be charged any more than my $732 amount by Accounting (of all departments), I took that as accurate. Yet now they’re saying that since it’s the default policy of the hotel to do this with more than one guest that I’m out of luck with the refund. I also now have to request the refund back from my guest, which is embarrassing. I would not be that mad about this if there had been proper communication to me about this whole event like at check-in or maybe a sign by the front desk stating there is such a default policy. I can’t even imagine a case where that would be worth doing. Why would somebody pre-pay a room bring in another guest and then have them divide the money out between the two guests names after it’s already been paid for? The division was not even accurate as she had to pay for parking, but it was on my side of the folio. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel to anybody and I will actually recommend avoiding it unless you don’t mind getting random charges and credits throughout your stay annd split folios even on a prepaid stay! Totally ridiculous and unacceptable.
