NH Madrid Príncipe de Vergara

Superbly located in the Salamanca district! The rooms and room service were excellent! A varied breakfast menu!

I had an extremely disappointing and unsafe experience at NH Madrid Príncipe de Vergara. During my stay, a large metal ceiling panel suddenly fell inside the room. It narrowly missed my friend, and the impact could have caused a serious injury. The ceiling was visibly vibrating, and there was loud mechanical noise coming from the pipes above. We immediately called reception, but instead of sending someone qualified to handle a structural or safety issue, they sent a room cleaner who could not communicate with us and was clearly not the right person to deal with this situation. We were then told to move to the room next door, which was just as noisy. Because the ceiling in the hallway was also shaking, we didn’t even feel safe walking out. We were effectively trapped in the room while the staff treated the situation with surprising indifference. When we finally took the risk to leave and went to reception, no one apologized. Instead, we were simply moved to another room on a different floor. We immediately called the front desk, but instead of sending someone capable of handling structural or safety issues, they sent a room attendant who couldn't speak English and clearly lacked the necessary skills. She was innocent, and it wasn't her fault at all, but this only highlighted the hotel's extremely inappropriate handling of the situation. The front desk then asked us to move to the next room, but that room was also affected by the noise. Because the hallway ceiling was shaking, we were afraid to even go outside and were essentially trapped inside, while the hotel staff's attitude was basically one of indifference. Finally, we risked our lives to rush out and reach the front desk, but no one offered an apology; they simply told us to go to a room on another floor. Throughout the entire process, the hotel staff showed no sense of responsibility and lacked even the most basic professionalism and concern for guest safety. I've had very good experiences at other NH hotels in Europe, but this one completely failed to meet any expected standards. This stay was neither safe nor handled responsibly, and I absolutely cannot recommend this hotel.

We went for a pharmaceutical product presentation, and everything was very well organized. Great venue for events, and well connected to Madrid.
