We had our wedding at No.38 and it was beautiful. We didn’t want exclusive use as we were planning on escaping on our honeymoon that evening and the hotel were more than happy to negotiate a ‘minimum-spend’ arrangement for a set event time (12:00-17:30). The food was incredible (the tasting session, with József (now Matthew) was so special, a shared creative experience), nearly every guest commented on how exquisite the feasting menu was. We had a number of coeliac’s, so there was an increased importance to keeping allergy from intolerance and I can confirm that no one was poorly and nothing was too much bother. The venue itself is spectacular, if you’re only thinking of taking a look, do. We opted for the ‘outstanding’ suite for 2 nights, as part of our minimum spend and we were not disappointed. Our wedding coordinator was amazing (shout out to Alasdair), regular updates, payment schedules, meetings on our request and offers of help at every turn. On the day, Ben (General Manager) was in attendance and no request was too much, they ensured that both bride and groom were stress free. I don’t think we lifted a finger. Subtle little check-ins, ferrying people about, making issues go away. We provided our table decorations and the hotel crew set everything up, all so beautifully. One of the requirements, on the day, is that the couple provide a number of playlists; welcome music, bride entrance, signing the register, exit music and welcome drinks/reception playlists. Alasdair did say that if we didn’t want to create the playlist for the drinks/reception we didn’t need to, as the hotel could use theirs. We spent hours crafting a special selection of artists for these playlists and didn’t listen/hear one track. Not because they weren’t being played, but because you just don’t notice it. If your wedding coordinator offers for you to use their playlist, do it and save yourself the time. An incredible venue and well worth every penny we spent (which was competitive and negotiable, based on our requirements, so don’t rule anything out). Highly recommend.
