Novotel Cambridge North

Right next to the station which was very handy and with parking nearby. Rooms were clean and modern with lots of power points, though a little dark. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.

Hotel was great for a business trip to the Cambridge Science park, though I'd prefer to get breakfast elsewhere. On the doorstep to Cambridge North train station, though Cambridge Central is still a fair walk from the city centre, so can be better to get the bus, which is also on this hotels doorstep. Parking charges were unexpected (£14.30 overnight). Gym, pool and sauna were good facilities, though most lockers were broken. Breakfast was awful. A fair range available, but bacon and hash browns were dry and sausages sub par taste. Second attempt - pastries were dry and unappetising. I daren't try a third time. Arrived at approx 07:30 so would expected fresher cooked ingredients, and certainly expected better pastries.

this was an excellent hotel. I was working in the area over the xmas period. long cold days where it was a pleasure to come back to each evening. everything was great and, clean and friendly. my only complaint was the room heating. I did enquire with the staff who had their hands tied as it being xmas, their maintenance were not on hand. The lady said she played about with the main controls but nothing made it better. Being between 0c & 4c degrees outside, you need heat to stay warm and get warm. long hot showers was the plan B. Took me a while to find the toilet. it hides behind a big mirrored door in the bathroom. Initially, it looked like a mirrored wall. one little niggly bit but it nearly cost me a pint the first evening due to the tilt of the table but nearly every table in the restaraunt was wobbly. pretty much each evening, we were all packing up the bases to stop the wobbling. the food was awesome, as we had a buffet serving for all of us who were working on the project. One night, they had just indian food on service. I asked if i could have someothing else as i didnt like the food. the chef made up burger and chips and veg for me. he didnt do just one, he did a dozen or so and they went quite quickly. The breakfast again was very good, plenty on offer. eggs were quite oily which needed soaking up with a serviete as the oil was quite a lot on them. highly recommend this hotel and if your travelling by train, it is litterally around the corner.
