Novum Hotel Leonet Köln Altstadt

Um, yeah. I honestly don't know where to begin. I spent two nights here, and after the first one, I was seriously considering finding another hotel. I'm not usually one to complain easily. Instead of a double bed (as booked), we got a regular 1.40m bed; I could have lived with that. The cleanliness standards were really (if you were being generous) just barely adequate; I could have tolerated that too. Even when our window wouldn't close properly, I could have let that slide somehow. But when our toilet flushed, that was the point where I went to reception. I was immediately told that we would, of course, get a new room as soon as one was clean. A few hours later, we were told that someone would come and look at the problem sometime during the day. We went out briefly, and when we returned, we were assured that someone had been there and everything would now be working. No one came to our room, nothing worked, and no one took care of anything. We were told beforehand that if we needed to use the toilet, we should go down from the top floor to the breakfast room in the basement. (Only one of the elevators was working; the other was out of order.) This toilet had a broken lock and mysterious brown stains on the wall. This was, by far, the worst hotel stay of my life.

Very long waiting times at reception, even when there was no one ahead of you. The rooms hadn't been cleaned, and the bathroom light was broken. We found mold under the silicone sealant in the bathroom. While the room was being cleaned/the light was being repaired, the room key was lost… After 5 hours, we returned and were told to fix the bathroom light ourselves with an unsuitable lightbulb. Parking costs €22 per day, and you have to be careful not to damage your car while parking because everything is very tight and there's no room to maneuver. More parking spaces are allocated than are actually available. While we were waiting for our room to be cleaned (for the second time), two families who had booked arrived, but there were no rooms available for them. One of the elevators is also broken. Ultimately, we moved our stay to another hotel after spending our first day just arguing, waiting, and getting frustrated.

I would strongly advise anyone traveling to Cologne to avoid the Leonet Hotel. My stay was characterized by filth and a shocking lack of professional conduct. The Room: The hygiene standards here are nonexistent. There was visible mold in the room and the shower, which is a serious health hazard. The hallway carpets are covered in deep stains and the entire establishment feels neglected. The Breakfast: An absolute disaster. Most food items were gone and never replenished; there weren't even eggs available. The milk was served lukewarm in a mug on the table. The Staff: This was the most upsetting part of the stay. While breakfast ends at 10:30 am, the staff's approach was hostile and aggressive. They used foul language and were incredibly rude when telling us to leave. I have never been spoken to so disrespectfully by hotel employees in my life. Save your money and stay elsewhere. This hotel is poorly maintained and the service is beneath any acceptable standard.
