Oak Plaza Hotel East Airport

Location: There location of this hotel is pretty good. It was next to the Palace Mall so all of those things you forgot to pack were easily accessible. It is well within walking distance, several restaurants are inside, and they take credit cards. Outside the mall is also a currency exchange place. Another great thing about this location is that, while there is a restaurant inside the hotel, there is a restaurant connected to it. It's called Jam Rock. Pretty good. Service is so-so. Live music. Nice vibe. Service: The staff that work inside the hotel as customer service or concierge at the desk are always kind, polite, and helpful. They will give you activity suggestions, food/restaurant suggestions, and will call a taxi or Bolt for you. They are top notch🏆. Then, you have housekeeping. 🙄 This is where things could use a refresher. The first 2 days, they cleaned our rooms. After that, NOTHING. I have no idea why. They start early. I know this because they are on the floor while we're going for breakfast. Unfortunately, they're in the same location on the floor when you return from your day's activities. No lie. What did they just spend 7 hours doing? Good question. But the answer will NOT be cleaning. I don't think they know what that is. Then 1 night around 8pm, one of them knocked on the door asking if I wanted my room cleaned. 🤔 About 8 hours ago, the answer would've been yes. Then she explains how tired she is, how stressed she is 🫩 Lady, I know for a fact that no one in our group has their room cleaned so how are you tired and stressed 🙄 Anyway, this was the worst part of the trip. You stay out all day to come back to an unkempt room. Disappointing!👎🏾 One time my air conditioner stopped working. I called downstairs and someone came up immediately. One time our toilet wouldn't flush and again, serviced immediately. If only we can light a fire for housekeeping like that. Food: The hotel had complimentary breakfast buffet each day. They also had an omelet station. The buffet is a mixture of foods. Sometimes, it was more brunch than breakfast 🤷🏾‍♀️ It is primarily their cultural breakfast dishes, fruit, breads, etc. It's typical without being typical. I hope you get that... Rooms: The rooms are small but efficient. All us had a few different quirks of differences in our rooms. Mostly via the bathroom. Some had showers. Others had tubs with a shower. The tubs were high. Like you had to do an Olympic high jump to get in. Thankfully, I had a shower. I'm short. I don't wanna work hard to get cleaned just to break a sweat getting out 🧐 They have an elevator. It's tiny but I've been to some places in Africa without elevators. So seeing a working itty-bitty elevator was a blessing 🙌🏾 My shower had a leak. We used more towels to keep the floor from flooding than we did on our bodies. Obviously, it only leaked when in use but the leaking was significant. We reported it but nothing happened. To recap, small but decent rooms. Good, firm mattress. That was good for my bad back. My young son didn't appreciate it tho lol. Air conditioning. Hot, strong water. Extras: Laundry service available along with pressing/ironing clothes. However, you can call amd request an iron and ironing board without paying for them to press your clothes. The laundry service for 8 days worth of clothing for 3 people cost us $265. 😕I heard it's disrespectful to include underwear for them to clean for you. IDK It's listed on the sheet. Of they don't want to clean it, it should not be on the sheet as an option.
