Update: After this review was posted, hotel management responded promptly and moved us to a third room that is noticeably cleaner and free of the previous odor issues. The manager and technicians personally inspected the situation and assisted us with the move. We also appreciated the thoughtful gesture of a card and snacks left in the room afterward. We are grateful for the effort to address the concerns and will update the rating again at the end of our stay. We are currently staying at the Oasia Hotel Kuala Lumpur, and unfortunately our experience so far has not matched what we expected based on the photos and descriptions when booking. Because we are still currently staying at the hotel, I’m sharing this feedback in the hope that management might be able to address these concerns during the remainder of our stay. Check-in was smooth, but our initial room had a strong sewage odor coming from the bathroom. When we tried using the washer-dryer, it left a burnt, chlorinated smell in our clothing. To the hotel’s credit, staff moved us to another room, which we appreciated. During the move we were assisted by an attendant named Kai, who was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We had a very pleasant conversation and he mentioned that he has been working at the hotel for around ten years. It was clear he takes pride in his work and is very good at what he does. His professionalism stood out, and I was happy to leave him a tip at the end of the interaction. The staff also brought an ionizer to the new room to help with the odor, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the new room has an even stronger mildew or mold smell, and the ionizer only improved it slightly (perhaps 15–20%). The washer-dryer in this room also continues to leave the same burnt chlorine smell in clothing even when run on a cold cycle. Service interactions have also been inconsistent. Some staff members have been very kind, while others have made interactions feel uncomfortable. For example, when requesting additional bottled water I was reminded in a somewhat corrective tone about the two-bottle daily limit before the request was fulfilled. Similarly, the staff member who delivered requested items to our room tonight—including two bottles of water, two towels, and two rolls of toilet tissue—appeared visibly irritated with my wife after she made a simple request. Moments like this contribute to the overall feeling that our presence is more of an inconvenience than that of welcomed guests. There have also been smaller interactions that contribute to this overall impression. For example, when my wife purchased two café mochas (24 RM) and paid with two 20-ringgit notes, the staff member reacted with visible frustration when she did not have exact change. We understand that traveling internationally involves adapting to different norms and we are not looking to be difficult guests. However, so far the overall experience has unfortunately leaned toward us feeling rather unwelcome. We still have several days remaining in our stay and hope these concerns can be addressed. If the odor issues and service experience improve, we would be happy to update this review accordingly. We would welcome the opportunity for management to address these concerns during the remainder of our stay, and it may also be helpful for a member of management or engineering to visit the room directly to experience the odor issue firsthand.

A perfect hotel for a few nights in the city. It's an aparthotel located in one of the best neighborhoods, in the upscale area. The rooftop pool is amazing. We arrived very early and they let us check into our room for an extra fee. They have luggage storage and offer showers. The staff is very attentive. Best of all: it's very affordable.

The washer/dryer combo was a life saver. Staff were all super helpful and sweet, and very delicious desserts. Breakfast buffet was fine. There's many affordable restaurants in the area, but they all close around 5-6PM (it's a business area).
