The good - it is well priced, we got a private bedroom and the kids stayed on a sofa bed in the other room, there is a full kitchen and a fridge and location is in a good place in the middle of NY where you can get to everywhere on the subway. It's also located in a quiet street with no traffic noise. The bad - our heating system did not make the rooms hot enough (we got extra blankets for the second night, and it wasn't cold after they tweaked the heating). The kitchen did not come with things that are usually in other hotels like coffee, tea. So for someone coming for a few days, you either have to buy everything or bring them from home. We didn't check in advance so it was a bit annoying. The pillows could have been better. Overall, great value for the money we spent.

A solid 4-star experience overall. The location and service were both dependable (3 stars), which made navigating the area easy. The rooms were a bit more on the basic side (2 stars), but for the price and the convenience of the neighborhood, it served its purpose well.

We had a three night stay booked, and ended up arriving to NYC one day earlier so we booked an extra night separately. The location is great and the rooms are spacious and decent. However, we immediately noticed how frigid the room was. We called the front desk and got different explanations. One person said the heat was working fine, another said the boiler is out and will be fixed shortly. They offered to bring up a space heater. We left and came back two hours earlier to the same frigid room. We tried to take a nap in the bedroom closing the door to heat up the room, only to be locked inside the room due to a broken door knob. We had to call the front desk for them to come rescue us. The front desk person was super warm and immediately changed our room. It was also frigid in the new room. At that point, we were losing hope that the “heater” will be fixed so we made the decision to cancel our reservation, ask for a refund, and go elsewhere. While asking for a refund, some other manager convinced us to stay and that they just got the boiler to work and should be warming up in 20-30 mins. The front desk worker was nice, we called the third party company and asked for a refund for our upcoming 3 night stay and they called the property and the hotel approved. Of note, when the third party booking called the hotel the front desk person said “we [the guests] had an emergency and had to leave”. It’s quite disheartening to see a property lie because they are not able to admit their hotel is uninhabitable. They refused to refund us for the first night since “we had already stayed”. For context, we checked in at around 1 pm and were asking for a refund and cancellation at around 4 pm. I think this hotel has so much potential and some great staff, if only they stop lying to their customers. Not a single time during our check in did they express that they had any issues with their heating, it’s only when we kept haggling them that they seemed to care at all. Spoiler alert, we left around 45 minutes after asking for a cancellation and the room was still frigid when we left it.
