Okayama View Hotel

Recommended by an industry insider. Although it's old, it's been renovated, and I stayed in a room where I took my shoes off. I was able to relax and feel like I was at home. The exterior, elevator, and hallways have a dated feel, but they were generally clean and not dirty. One thing that bothered me was that a Korean (or maybe Japanese) guest was staying there. When I checked in, there was a strong smell of kimchi, and even using the deodorizing spray provided in the room didn't go away. I guess my nose gradually got used to it after opening the window and spraying it repeatedly. After going out to eat, I came back and the smell was still there. Maybe it would be better to prohibit strong-smelling food or strong-smelling items. Overall, I personally like this hotel, thanks to its location and proximity to my favorite restaurants. As for breakfast, they carefully selected each dish, and I thought it was very good. I'll stay again!

The room was spacious and inexpensive, though a bit far from Okayama Station. Aside from the woman at the garbage station in room 808 next door screaming inexplicably until 1 AM and making a lot of noise walking on the Japanese-style wooden floor, overall it was quite good.

I specifically booked a room type that could accommodate 2-4 people, but the hotel arbitrarily changed it to a room that could accommodate 2-3 people, wasting my time choosing the room type when making the reservation. (When I checked with the front desk, they said, "It's for 2 adults and 3 people sharing a bed." It should be possible for two people to use the room, even if it was for sharing a bed, because there were so many people, but they changed it arbitrarily, and the hotel didn't even explain that they had changed the room type.) - The two lights on the wall of my room suddenly started flickering on and off at the same time, which was stressful. (I asked the front desk in the morning, and they said, "We'll check and let you in," but when I returned from going out, there was nothing different.) The front desk didn't say anything either. Therefore, I asked to be moved the next day, but the hotel made no such offer. - The inside doorknob was completely missing, so I had a hard time getting out without twisting it. (I was able to insert the doorknob and twist it, but it was loose and I couldn't pull it. This happened during a time when news reports of doorknobs coming off in saunas were all the rage, so I was worried about what might happen.) - There was a strong glue-like smell coming from somewhere, maybe the elevator. I'm disappointed because some of the front desk staff, the room where you had to take your shoes off, and the proximity to the bus terminal were all great features.
