I stayed at Shiraume R102. [Room] The open-air bath was disappointing. - Clean and spacious. - On the other hand, the open-air bath was completely visible from the second-floor guest rooms unless the blinds were lowered all the way. Because the blinds had to be lowered all the way, the garden was also obscured by them, making it almost impossible to see. The view was cut off. [Service] Considering the price of the room, it was disappointing. - No greeting upon entering the facility. - They didn't carry luggage up to the room. *Luggage in carry-ons and other luggage would be delivered to the room at similar rates. - The website states that there is a minibar, and that one drink is free for guests, but when I went there, I was told it was closed and the free service was no longer available. *There was no mention of the closure on the website. - While there was a brief explanation of the room, there was no explanation of how to use the bath. The open-air bath was completely visible from the second-floor rooms unless the blinds were closed, so I felt an explanation was needed beforehand. (In other words, you can see part of the second-floor rooms from the first floor.) [Location] A relaxing, extraordinary space in the heart of the entertainment district. - Conveniently located near many pay parking lots, convenience stores, supermarkets, and restaurants. *No free parking available.

This is a regular hotel cosplaying as a luxury hotel. The baths were amazing and the location is lovely, however, you hear EVERYTHING in the building all above and around you. Every staff member walking up and down the stairs is SO loud, and it woke us up early the first day. The guests in the room above us sounded like they were in the room with us. We asked for a late check out so we could try and get some extra rest and they would only do an extra hr for 4000 yen; no mercy. There's apartments with balconies right next to you when you're outside bathing, they can't see you but you might hear each other. Next time we are going to taxi or bus somewhere else farther away that is actually private, with better accommodations for the money because this was just not worth it unfortunately, especially with NO meals offered/included. They should charge like half or less of what they do!!

A beautiful traditional Japanese hotel located on a charming old street. The staff were extremely kind and attentive. The room was very clean. We especially loved the private onsen overlooking a peaceful Japanese garden, truly a wonderful experience. Returning to Kyoto for the first time in 15 years, this stay made our trip unforgettable. Highly recommended.
