Okujozankei Onsen Kasho Gyoen

We had a wonderful stay at Kasho Gyoen. After several days of packed itineraries, spending two nights here allowed us to finally slow down, relax, and enjoy some much-needed rest. Location-The hotel is situated beside Shikotsu-Toya National Park, offering a peaceful, private, and tranquil atmosphere. While the location is somewhat inconvenient in terms of transportation, the hotel provides a complimentary round-trip shuttle bus to and from Sapporo Station. Advised to book early, as shuttle seats are shared with guests from the Grand Blissen Hotel Jozankei and availability is limited. Dining Experience-The hotel specializes in Italian-Japanese fusion cuisine served in a multi-course format. Each dish was beautifully presented and prepared using fresh, seasonal local ingredients. While the breakfast selection was relatively limited, the overall dining experience was excellent and highly enjoyable. Service-Service throughout our stay was outstanding. From the moment we arrived, the staff were attentive, warm, and genuinely hospitable, making us feel truly welcomed. Onsen & View-Each room is equipped with a private onsen, offering breathtaking snow-covered views. This was undoubtedly the highlight of our stay and made the experience unforgettable. Kasho Gyoen is an ideal retreat for travelers like us seeking tranquility, attentive service, and a luxurious onsen experience surrounded by nature.

Unlike other ryokans in Jozankei, this one is located a bit further away, but it's easily accessible by bus. I had a pleasant chat with the staff member who showed me to my room, and they were witty and pleasant. The fruit served for breakfast was delicious. It was nice that the staff greeted me as I left the ryokan on the bus.

Kasho Gyoen was my first all inclusive onsen experience and they set the bar so very high. Located a little past Jozankei’s main village, the location felt like a quiet and peaceful little secret. No detail was left out from check in to check out. They had a cute shuttle from Sapporo train station that took me to the property where we were greeted my several team members. Each guest was checked in personally by a different team member with a welcome drink in hand. The accommodations itself were pristine. Quiet, minimalist, with beautiful relaxing music gently playing throughout the halls. Each room has an incredible view of natural landscape which made you feel literally one with the trees. I chose Kasho Gyoen because my room has its own private onsen tub which changed my life. The natural healing waters accessed from the comfort of my beautiful room healed my body and spirit! I hadn’t even started on the food. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and decadent. I could go on about all of the wonderful things about my stay. I would absolutely go back again, and would encourage anyone to give this place a try.
