Palais Dar Si Aissa ALL-SUITES

My wife, daughter and I spent five nights, including New Year's Eve, at the Riad Dar Si Aissa in Marrakesh. We were given a very large traditional Moroccan suite with a double bed and a small bed for my daughter at the opposite end. Initially, I wanted to give my stay one star because there were so many things I didn't like. I will mention just three: 1. The heating was quite unpredictable, with hot air coming only from two vents on the side of the double bed and nothing in the rest of the room. I am talking about a room measuring at least 80 square metres. 2. The bathroom was spacious with a large bathtub, shower, toilet and even a bidet, but it was freezing cold, and damn it, a bathroom just cannot be freezing cold. 3. The breakfast area was located in a large interior space of the riad, which was very beautiful, to be honest, with a ceiling height of over two floors and a sunroof. This area was also very beautiful but freezing cold and without any kind of heating. The room included a large lounge with sofas that were completely unusable because they were at least five steps lower than the rest of the suite and frozen cold. The suite had large windows that overlooked an internal room of the riad and were therefore always closed with heavy drapes. In the end, the suite did NOT have any truly usable windows... but I think this is common in traditional riads. Then, gradually, with the passage of time and the support of the riad staff, almost all the minor problems were resolved. • They turned the heating up very high during the day to heat the bathroom as well, which we obviously turned down when we went to bed. • They installed a WiFi extender to improve coverage throughout the suite. The only sad thing was still having breakfast in the cold. I think many people solved this by having it brought to their rooms. We had room + breakfast included, but with New Year's Eve dinner included. During our stay, they informed us that the planned evening at the riad would NOT take place but would be replaced by an evening at another hotel. We were a little worried because we did NOT want to risk coming back too late as we had a flight home in the morning, but everything went well. In fact, I must point out that the evening was very well organised with courses and breaks for dancing and chatting with the other guests, with perfect timing that took us to a few minutes before midnight without any downtime. I have come to the conclusion, based on what I have written above, that the Riad deserves a good 4 stars. I cannot give it 5 stars because we encountered several difficulties, but neither can I give it zero stars, as I would have thought at the beginning of our stay. I must thank and mention Othmane, who went out of his way to solve every problem. This young man will go far.

Historic riad, Near the main square and on one of the most elegant streets. Unfortunately, the historic character was clearly visible, from the terrace, the common areas and even the rooms, in need of extensive maintenance and renovation! The rooms were clean, but there was always an unpleasant odor. The restaurant and breakfast were very poor.
