Pear Tree Inn San Antonio Arpt

I decided to stay here due to the location close to the airport and the prices. The first room I was in had carpet floors and an outdated bathroom. The bathroom includes the toilet and tub and is very cramped with a yellow light above that didn't really brighten the room very much. Overall I had a bad feeling in my gut, but then I thought it's a case of getting what I paid for, as long as it's safe, then I found several strands of hair in the bed. I didn't think much of it, I just went to the front desk to ask for new sheets to be put onto the bed. The person at the desk said that this could be done, but they also offered me another room. I was fairly surprised, but I asked for a room with wood flooring versus carpet, that's just a preference of mine and I figured it would smell a little bit better. My request is granted and I moved down to the first floor. Everything but the floor was the same, but again I figured I'm getting what I paid for. That and the only strand of hair I found in this room was a tiny piece in the tub. So I stay in this room Friday night and I was planning to stay there until very early Monday morning. Only around 2:00 a.m. Saturday night things took a turn for the worst, and I found a roach. From my understanding small roaches are common in texas, but this one was at least 2 inches long and had very large antennas. I didn't get a chance to take a photo before it climbed from the top of the wall where I saw it to behind the bed frame. I packed everything immediately and went to the front desk, I didn't bother asking for another room I just wanted to check out immediately. The front desk agent at that time was very nice, I think she could tell I was shaken up by what I had seen. She comped my room for that night plus the remainder of my trip, after that I went and stayed at a different hotel. Although I am not claiming that the hotel has an infestation, after all it's a place where a lot of Travelers stay so it's possible that someone else brought the roach there unknowingly. That being said, I am very concerned as during my short trip there there were several groups including a bus full of people and a group full of teenagers who stayed there. I am concerned because most roaches carry a lot of germs and I don't want anyone to get sick, as this hotel serves breakfast to the guests. My main concern for this hotel is that while it is fairly cheap, I feel that they are charging hotel prices for Motel standards. This is based off of the cramped bathroom, bad lighting in the bathroom, the smell from the carpet, and the hair and roaches. I will say this much, the hotel staff is very nice and accommodating, but this hotel does need to be revamped.
