What could have been an outstanding experience ended up in a disappointment. We started our stay with a misunderstanding we thought. We booked half board through Agoda. When we arrived they did not know. We thought they check it and in the end this will be corrected. Little did we know that the moment we were checking out we ended up in a discussion. They tried to charge us for diner. They also tried to let us pay for local taxes but this was also includes with the booking of Agoda. When we wanted to pay in local currency the manager tried to scam us again with a ridiculous exchange rate. He could talk a lot but when I told him that since of 2025 they were obligated to show prices in shilling he lost his tongue. I did not know before but because of the way he was handling the checkout I was looking for information and found prices shown in dollars is against the law. Our whole stay he was nowhere to be seen, when we left he came to make problems even bigger. The remoteness of the hotel is wonderfull. It's eco friendliness doubtfully. Only next in front of us the beach was cleaned of plastics. They had the whole bay for themselves and if they cleaned an hour each day the whole bay was cleaned with plastics within a week and you could have this bounty island feeling. We did some ourselfs because it was hard to look at it. When I asked them about the cleaning, they said that they were talking about it and also with the village on the islands to teach people about plastics in nature. When I asked my friend who lives in Tanzania, and recommended the place, he told me he had the same talk with them 2 years ago. Nothing changed apparently. Such a waste of a wonderful place, especially it did not take much of an effort. If I was there a couple of more days, I would have cleaned it myself.

Beautiful lodge located in Pemba. The views are stunning and so peaceful there - an unforgettable experience. The staff are lovely, food is delicious. Wonderful place to chill and explore. If you visit Zanzibar this is a must.
