Pertschy Palais Hotel

The location is excellent, within walking distance of everything, it's a historic building, the rooms are spacious, and the breakfast is delicious. I definitely recommend it.

I'll just describe the history of this palace. The origins of the site where the hotel is now located date back to the 14th century. It was owned by the von Kapellern family, but after 1384, the ownership remains unknown. There's a 16th-century reference to it as belonging to "Mrs. Pittichin." The estate changed owners several times, including Hans Harann, Konrad von Pappenheim, and Marshal Maximilian von Pappenheim. Around 1605, Octavius Cavriani acquired the entire estate and transformed it into an estate. After his death, the estate was inherited by his nephew, Count Friedrich Cavriani. In 1723, the palace was built under Count Maximilian Cavriani, and at the time, it was one of the most magnificent architectural structures in Vienna. The square was built in the Baroque style, with Corinthian portals and beautiful window decorations on both façades, a symbol of Baroque splendor. In 1923, the palace became the property of the Generali Insurance Company, which divided it into apartments and commercial premises. The third floor housed a boarding house for men studying in Vienna. In the early 1960s, the Pertschy family acquired the 12-room boarding house, and the complex gradually expanded; today it is the famous Pertschy Palais Hotel.
