Pestana Collection Plaza Mayor

I made a booking with 2 balconies overlooking the Plaza. Well, both balconies were massively obstructed, so we couldnt enjoy them or really see through. I asked for any consideration for a next booking in the future... The response was merely a 10% only...it is a cheap response which does not motivate to return...

Despite its ideal location and pleasant common areas, this hotel is a huge disappointment and absolutely does not justify its prices. The reception is rather cold and unprofessional. I had requested a room on a higher floor two months in advance, and they put me on the lowest floor if I didn't complain. The room, although advertised as small, is very poorly designed: no storage space whatsoever, an incoherent layout, and cheap-quality faux-parquet flooring that doesn't live up to the hotel's standards. You can also hear the noise of the drains. The shower is small. For a 4-star hotel, this is simply unacceptable. The spa is clearly oversold: the photos are misleading, and the services are unworthy of the advertised standard. Cold water, a barely lukewarm sauna… it's a far cry from the promised experience. The restaurant completes the picture: the hamburger was inedible and tasted rancid. Despite the waiter's friendliness, the reception and management showed no consideration whatsoever, nor the slightest willingness to question the situation. For them, there simply was "no problem." If I had to do it again, I would without hesitation choose another hotel, perhaps more honest in its communication. The room, although advertised as small, is above all very poorly designed: there is no proper storage space, the layout is incoherent, and the cheap faux wood flooring is not worthy of the standard expected. You can also hear the noise of the plumbing and water drainage. The shower is small too. For a 4-star hotel, this is simply unacceptable. The water was cold, the sauna was barely warm… it’s nowhere near the advertised experience. The restaurant just adds to the overall picture: the burger was inedible, with a rancid taste. Despite the kindness of the waiter, the reception and management showed no consideration and no willingness to question themselves. For them, there simply “was no problem.” If I had to do it again, I would choose another hotel without hesitation — perhaps one that is more honest in its communication. At this price and for a 4-star property, one is entitled to expect much better.
