This was our 2nd visit to the PSBR after an outstanding time last year. We extended our stay to 7 nights this year based on a great experience last year but this visit was so disappointing. Last year we had room 5802 which was exceptional in every way. The room was a king suite in the main White Sands building. It featured a beautiful large lanai right off the bedroom. The bedroom was gulf front view. The living room was large with one wall facing the gulf glass from ceiling to floor with a table and chairs in front of the glass wall. Kitchen was large as was the bath and shower. When I made my request this year I asked for the same style room again on an upper floor. We were assigned room 9508 and this room was so inferior in every way. I went to the front desk asking to be switched but was told there was nothing that could be done. This room has a rear bedroom with no view or window facing the hallway and the elevator. You could hear the elevator and people in the hall at night. The bathroom though very large had a shower that’s was lucky to be 3 feet by 3 feet. The living room had one wall that was at a 45degree angle where the tv stood so that if you were sitting on the couch you were watching a tv on an angle. The kitchen looked like an afterthought just a small nook and the lanai barely fit 2 chairs and a table. No glass ceiling to floor wall and no table or chairs because of the size of the room. Totally disappointing at the same price as the much larger rooms. Issue 2 was on Thursday night at 12:30 the fire alarm goes off the evacuate and don’t use the elevator. We walk down 9 flights of stairs, we are both in our 70s . When we get outside there is no one there from Pink Shell to tell people what was going on. It wasn’t till 15 minutes later that a sheriff car pulled up to tell us it was a false alarm. No fire trucks showed up as apparently the hotel knew it was a false alarm and advised the fire.dept but not the residents. No text the next day with an apology or an explanation on what happened. To make matters worse my wife fell exiting the room as the floors were wet with no warning signs put out. She bruised her arm and shoulder but was very fortunate it wasn’t worse. It’s a shame b cause everything else about the PBSR is first rate but this was unacceptable and soured us on any return visit. Sorry for the length of this review

Stayed at the condo immediately south of the pink shell, their poolside bar and grill was awesome! Great bartenders and excellent pizza.

We enjoyed our first visit to the Pink Shell. We took advantage of the bikes included in the resort fee to explore Estero Blvd and used them to go to dinner near Times Square, as it was faster than driving. We also enjoyed dinner at Rae's Italian. Beautiful location and property. Breakfast at Jack's was great. Here's a tip: Get your grab and go coffee at the entrance to Jack's (from the Captiva elevator) instead of the Keurig coffee in your room. Food at Bongo's was mixed, with a combination of really good, to "should we take this back?" I took off 1 star because I had to fix the toilet upon arrival and because there was construction noise on our floor (4th floor Sand's building). We also didn't know the spa was closed for renovations.
