The guesthouse has an excellent location, very beautiful and stylish on the outside, as is typical for Paraty. However, the interior is very old, with a strong musty smell, which in a way matches the antique furniture reminiscent of colonial Brazil. As for breakfast, despite the staff's kindness and some unique items, it is served at a fixed, pre-arranged time and at the table, which limits the options.

The hotel is located inside the historic center of Paraty, which is charming, but this also creates a serious inconvenience that is not clearly explained anywhere. Cars are not allowed inside the historic center, and reaching the hotel with large suitcases is extremely difficult. We arrived with great difficulty, carrying heavy luggage on the stone streets, and it would have been fair to clearly inform guests in advance. Before arrival, the hotel informed us that the reception would close at 10:00 PM and that we should notify them if arriving later. However, we arrived at 9:16 PM, well before that time, and found the door completely closed, with a note saying that reception closed at 9:00 PM and that we had to call a number. It was raining heavily, and we had to wait outside until someone came to open the door. This was a very unpleasant first impression. The entrance area is visually nice, with colonial-style decor that matches the atmosphere of Paraty. Unfortunately, everything changed as soon as we entered the room. The room had a strong smell of mold and damp, and from the very beginning we noticed an unacceptable level of dirt. The room and the bathroom were extremely dirty, to a point that is honestly hard to describe. The bed, sheets, and blankets looked unclean, and it was very uncomfortable to sleep there. We stayed three nights, only because Paraty was very full and we had no realistic alternative. The floor was so dirty that when we placed our suitcase on it, the suitcase became black immediately. The bathroom door was visibly dirty, the bathroom itself felt unhygienic, and I was honestly disgusted to use the shower. There were spider webs everywhere, clearly showing a total lack of proper cleaning. I seriously wonder how this hotel passes any kind of sanitary inspection. I travel often, and this was by far the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff were polite and kind, but unfortunately cleanliness is the most important service in a hotel, and here it was not just insufficient — it was below zero. (The photos attached were taken immediately upon entering the room, before using anything, and accurately show the condition of the accommodation.)

Beautiful pousada in a colonial, vintage style. The welcome is very warm. Its location in the heart of the historic center makes many things easier. The only downside for me is the bedding (mattress too soft and broken slats) and perhaps the bathroom is a bit too small. Otherwise, of course, you can go there for a few nights.
