QT Queenstown – Disappointing Stay for the Price I’ve visited Queenstown more than six times, and this was, unfortunately, one of my most disappointing hotel experiences — made worse because this was supposed to be the highlight of my trip. I paid a huge premium for this stay compared to all my other accommodations during my 2-week South NZ trip, but it turned out to be the weakest. 1. Arrival & Valet Service The drop-off point was confusing and no one came to assist. A staff member in uniform watched us struggle but only reacted after I mentioned I was checking in. For NZD 35/day “valet”, they only handled the car during check-in and check-out. Every other time, we were told they were short-staffed and had to walk to the back to retrieve the car ourselves. If manpower is an issue, don’t call it valet. 2. Room Experience The room felt underwhelming for the price. Complimentary tea and coffee were hidden inside a wardrobe drawer, while all the paid snacks and alcohol were prominently displayed. I even had to call concierge just to find the tea/coffee — something I’ve never encountered in any of my previous Queenstown stays. 3. Facilities (or lack of) The pool was tiny (around 5m x 7m) and filled with dead insects. You even need a separate access card for the pool, which made it more troublesome than it should be. There’s no gym, and despite all the marketing around their restaurant, there’s no complimentary breakfast. The only positive was the complimentary wine at the entrance — and that’s honestly the only redeeming part. For a room costing over $600+ per night, and for a hotel I selected as the “premium highlight” of my trip, the overall experience fell far short. Great branding, but very poor execution and hospitality.

This is a beautiful 5-star hotel. Not all rooms offer a full view of the lake, with most providing a partial view. The rooms are modern and spacious, and the overall view is quite pleasant. The hotel is conveniently located a 10-minute walk from town.

Beautiful rooms, stunning view, nice staff. Showers are incredible in rooms. Stayed here for marathon.
