Quality Inn Selinsgrove

We've stayed here before. It needed updating at the time but was tidy, the staff was amazingly helpful and friendly and breakfast was delicious. That's why we returned. Unfortunatey, after asking the woman at check-in for something safe, clean, and comfortable we were assigned room 204. Never have I seen such a filthy room. Hair everywhere. Stained mattress. Sheets so thin on one bed it was nearly a hole. Blanket had a hole and stained. Ended up removing one blanket and using the other blanket off the stained mattress. Terrible stains on the padded chairs. Walls, light switches, table top was grimey. Curtain wouldn't close until we figured out it was off its track and fixed it. Carpet was filthy and needed vacuuming badly. If it hadn't been so late, cold, and not being sure where to go, we would have gone on. Breakfast was ok, no water to drink that we saw, coffee in the pump pots was lukewarm. The only fruit was a bowl of overripe bananas. The staff was still friendly and helpful and said, when we politely expressed our concerns, that we got one of the "unremodeled" rooms. Even after specifying we wanted a clean room- although I'm not sure what remodeling has to do with cleaning. We were severely disappointed and won't stay here again. If you do, I'd ask to see the room before you pay and have a second option in mind. I was told the hotel in back of this one was owned by the same people so 🤷🏼‍♀️ would it have been better? I'll never know. Next time we'll drive a little farther and stay elsewhere.

Had to give this place 2 stars since the last behind the desk on 1/13 seemed she couldn't have cared less to be there. During customer transactions, it's appropriate to actually focus on the customer and not continue talking to friends in the lobby or on the phone via your earpiece. Not sure who she was talking to while I was checking in, but it certainly wasn't me. Customer service needs to be improved.

First of all: Would I stay here again? Absolutely. Now, this was going to be a 5-star review, but my wife wouldn't agree to that because the room was missing creamer and sweetener for coffee. Nevertheless, the main room looked recently remodeled and was clean. The bed was comfortable. There were two chairs, something you don't always see anymore. The bathroom fixtures were old, but they worked, and everything was clean. Breakfast was fine. All of this, for the price we paid, was one of the better values I've encountered in the past year. The Quality Inn Selinsgrove gets a "thumbs up," except for the creamer and sweetener. I'm sure it'll be there next time.
