You feel instantly transported back to the 80s – not the glamorous disco era, but more like the time when wallpaper was banned for health reasons. You could almost believe the ghost of some long-forgotten party congress is still lingering here. Welcome to socialist luxury! There used to be so much going on here… and we witnessed it all. The room was a masterpiece. The cleanliness was open to creative interpretation, the bathroom a valiant relic of bygone days. A masterpiece of the consistent refusal of modernization. The furniture—let's just say: if wood could talk, these pieces would be screaming for refurbishment. The carpet had so much "character" that I briefly wondered if I should give it a name. The cleanliness… a poem. A very sad, very free poem. With plenty of room for interpretation. It was one of those rare situations where you feel the need to put on your slippers—for self-protection and emotional support. The bathroom, however, was my personal highlight. I've never entered a room where the tiles simultaneously shine and stick. The faucet at the sink displayed small works of art made from unidentifiable collections of diverse substances—a physical sensation, so to speak. The shower curtain—well, it probably saw its best days before I was even born. The noise level was also impressive. I could not only hear the street, but feel it. It was as if the traffic was passing right next to my pillow. As for breakfast: It was there—let's call it diplomatic: adequate. Enthusiasm would be an exaggeration. But it served its purpose—like a very conscientious, yet completely emotionless employee. And then there are those 5-star reviews from other guests. To this day, I'm torn between admiration and concern. Perhaps we have different definitions of luxury. Perhaps they saw different rooms. Or booked something else. Who knows? In short: A hotel for those who like to tell stories that begin with "You won't believe what happened to me..." It's loud, run-down, questionably clean—and at the same time so proud of itself that you almost think it's intentional. If you're looking for real comfort, keep looking. If you love excitement and adventure—welcome home. It has charm, yes – the worn, slightly seedy charm of a bar you only appreciate when you're drunk. But at least the location is good. The rest requires courage, humor, and a stable psyche.
