Stayed here for about 4-5 weeks, so a significant amount of time. Breakfast staff are incredible, very kind, clean, and friendly. The building itself however is a bit of a nightmare, there is this nasty mold smell that is constant throughout the floors— from time to time staff will use a room spray to aggressively cover up the smell but its still noticeable. The laundry room is a mess, with machines that leak, and instead of decommissioning broken machines they used towels to wipe up the puddles and left them be. The water rooms are filthy with trash piling up for days at a time (why guests leave their delivery trash hidden in the water rooms is beyond me but how staff didn’t take care of it when I mentioned it the first time is even more confusing). The biggest issue though is by far the temperature— the entire building is set to 71 degrees but somehow my room was consistently 78-80 degrees and getting thermostat assistance was like pulling the teeth of front desk staff. They would say the thermostat was motion activated— and that was why it would get so hot at night. But that didn’t explain why only hot air came out of the vents. Being in a long term stay I expected sheets to be fully replaced on a 4 day- weekly basis however the sheets went long enough for me to ask for fresh sheets and even after asking this was not taken care of promptly. Since the sheets hadn’t been fully remade regularly the mattress protector and cover would come loose and release from the bed. Front desk service and support is incredibly slow or nonexistent often seeming like “theres nothing they can do” to accommodate an issue.

Rodents, Broken Promises, and Rude Service at Convention Center Location I am a long-time Marriott member, and my stay at the Residence Inn - Washington DC Convention Center was easily one of the worst experiences I have had with the brand. I stayed from Monday to Friday, and on my second night, I discovered a family of mice living under the refrigerator. The handling of this health hazard was abysmal. Instead of bringing me keys to a new room so I could move comfortably, I was told to frantically pack up all my belongings late at night, clothes still on hangers, and haul everything down to the lobby myself just to get reassigned. To make matters worse, despite being promised an "upgrade" for the inconvenience, I was actually moved into a smaller room than the one I originally booked and paid for. Service failures continued throughout the week. Requests for basic items like toothpaste (left from running out of room) were promised but never delivered. Finally, the staff at the front desk, specifically during checkout, were rude and completely lacked customer service skills. I cannot recommend this specific DC location.

First impression, you pull up to the hotel, valet person doesn’t even move to assist with suitcases. We ask for the bell trolley and he tells us to go inside and get it ourselves. Walk up to desk and the receptionist a young man is taking to me but answers the phone and is speaking with both myself and the person on the phone. So very confusing. I had requested connecting rooms. He’s not sure if they are connecting. After about 30 minutes I’m finally checked in. Lobby was full of very shady individuals. Smells smells like a marijuana party. Head up to our rooms. Nice size rooms with kitchens. Our room was connecting room to someone who was frying fish. Needless to say it was gross. Our room smelled like humidity and was not clean. Went back downstairs and requested a new room, according to the two staff members the hotel was sold out.i explained to him the smell and he told me there’s nothing he could do. I said I would be contacting Marriott. No security at all,no customer service.
