Riad Sidi Ayoub

The riad has a great location and is beautifully quiet. The staff is very friendly, and the breakfast is truly delicious. The rooms are very authentic, though a safe might be a good idea for improvement. Nevertheless, we felt very comfortable and especially loved the black cat that always roams the riad. :) From the rooftop, you can watch the sunrise over the rooftops of Marrakech.

Strategic location of the establishment. The patio is lovely, we have breakfast there and it is possible to stay there to smoke or take a break. The setting is truly striking. Our room was spacious enough and cleaning is done every day (beds are remade, towels are changed, trash cans emptied...). The riad is very clean in general. The staff is English and French speaking, and is quite charming and concerned about doing well. It is possible to order a taxi at the reception. Let's move on to the few drawbacks / things to note: the room was very humid, difficult to dry anything (especially a swimsuit); the bedding is not great without being dramatic, a bar on my bed was no longer holding; the ad mentioned a television in the room: there is none; the wifi does not work in the room so you have to do everything from the patio; there is no safe so you always have to take your valuables with you; Non-existent soundproofing: you can hear the street, the calls to prayer, and your roommates; the riad is not accessible by car; your driver will drop you off at the nearest square (a 5-minute walk), which can make you feel unsafe, especially when you arrive after dark and have to cross the tiny streets with all your luggage; there is a small pond next to reception, but I think it's only decorative; it's not possible to pay by credit card at the reception, so be careful when paying your tourist tax and bottled water; if you eat there: the food is delicious, but beware of the oversized portions (ordering one dish for two is more than enough); breakfast is served between 8 and 10 a.m.: it is generous without being extravagant, but the coffee isn't great. Conclusion: a very typical and successful experience, I recommend the riad without hesitation to adventurous and easygoing tourists. On the other hand, for those who are looking for safety and comfort above all: I strongly recommend you take a hotel.

Everything was perfect, clean, the room was spacious, the people are lovely. Be careful though, it is right in the center of the Medina, very difficult to access.
