Terrible experience. I went to the rooftop, which is open to the public, but they wouldn't let me sit in the lower section with the windows, claiming it was only for guests. Shortly after I arrived, I noticed many people entering and sitting in the window section with the view, and they weren't guests. I questioned one of the waiters about this, and he informed me that they opened that section to non-guests because they previously had a group of people reserved for it, but that's a lie because I arrived close to closing time and all the window tables were empty. They clearly judged me by my appearance; I won't even write the word that would define the type of prejudice, but you get the idea! Low-class people who choose where you have the right to sit based on your appearance. In addition, the food was bad, bland, and expensive! I don't recommend it; don't go to this place!

Rio Othon is located in the central and best part of Copacabana beach. It's one of the highest if not the highest building on Avenida Atlantica. Lobby is vast and elegant in marble with entrances facing the Atlantica Av, as well one from the side street. Check in was fast and we were upgraded from side sea view to front sea view - Thank you very much. All the staff was very kind, helpful and hard working. Room is very spacious, though little bit dated but that didn't bother us. There's a spacious closet, comfy king size bed, in room safe, fridge, TV, table with two armchairs..... Bathroom was also spacious with a big shower cabin. Breakfast is pretty rich, though same every morning. Best was the fresh orange juice making machine squeezing fresh oranges in no time. On top floor is a bar and amazing infinity pool with outstanding views of Copacabana, Sugarloaf mountain and Arpoador cape. They have their own part on the beach with a bar and free sunbeds. Have in mind hotel is huge, so downsides are: - despite 6 elevators be prepared for some waiting time for elevator, - pool is packed with people except in early morning and very hot, - huge crowds at breakfast from 9 AM - try to have it earlier. All in all it's a great option to stay and I would recommend it
