This was our first time in Aruba and we booked our stay at the Riu understanding it was all-inclusive. I love the location and the look of the hotel. It does indeed look like a palace on the outside and the spot of beach it sits on is beautiful and near all the action. The rooms themselves don’t match the luxurious appearance of the outside of the hotel and the furniture and finishings are definitely due for an upgrade. The pool is beautiful and the staff friendly and helpful but there are problems. First of all the keycards only work for a few hours or a day maximum at a time. We had to constantly reprogram them or get new ones. Second, it’s near impossible to frequent the restaurants at the hotel as they don’t have a reservation system. It is “first come first serve” which means long waits or no availability at all. Of the four restaurants, we were only able to attend one for dinner on one night. This means you have to always go to the buffet to eat. The good news is the buffet is outstanding with high quality and wide variety of delicious food options. The “White Party” disco for adults was a lot of fun and also included. Overall we enjoyed our stay and I feel like there is a great deal of value in Riu but definitely room for improvement.

The hotel is far from 4 stars, the hotel looks literally barely as 3 stars. Although the location of the hotel and the food is good, the quality of the drinks is extremely poor and there is not much options for restaurants. The area of all inclusive is very smoky and smells so much of grilled and fried that you get out of there and you smell like you cooked all day. Then they say you have the option of Elite, as upgrade but you cannot actually book this prior to arrival, as no one is answering to the emails. At the phone they say: upon arrival we check the availability, hence this is not actually an option in the end. Without Elite you do not have access to the actual restaurants. Same type of experience we had in Riu Cancun. Conclusion: i would never ever recommend this hotel nor i will ever book again with Riu Hotels chain. So disappointed!
