Stunning Aurora, but Ugly and Rude Service at Riverfront Lodge Hella I am writing to express my extreme disappointment regarding the service at Riverfront Lodge Hella. As a hotel owner myself in Malaysia, I am appalled by the unprofessional and rude conduct of your staff. Lack of Transparency in Rules: Your website explicitly lists "Cookware/Kitchen utensils" under the kitchen amenities. However, after we used the kitchen on our first night (leaving it spotless and perfectly reset), your staff rudely prohibited us from using it again for dinner. Unfriendly and Rigid Attitude: This morning, despite being polite and waiting for the staff to prepare breakfast, a simple request for my child to wash hands in the kitchen sink was met with a blunt and hostile "No." This was particularly frustrating as the basin in our room was clogged. Hostile Communication: When we attempted to cook dinner, the staff member was incredibly aggressive, stating we could not use the "common kitchen" and forbade us from even entering the area before 8:15 AM tomorrow, citing it as a "rule." If such restrictive rules exist, they should be clearly posted on the door or your website, not weaponized by staff to berate guests. Nature blessed this country with the magic of the Aurora, but the "ugly" service here has tarnished that beauty. It is a shame to the Icelandic tourism industry to treat disciplined, paying customers with such disrespect. I will be escalating this matter to the Icelandic Tourism Board

The room was small and poorly soundproofed, but still reasonably comfortable. The communal kitchen and dining area were unavailable, only open for breakfast. It was very cold outside in winter, and the lack of space for socializing was quite disappointing. Not to mention, the kitchen was completely inaccessible.

A group of 10 of us stayed overnight and it was a pleasant experience. The room is small but has everything you need. The setting is ideal, right by the river.
