We had afternoon tea booked in Palm Court. We arrived a bit early, but this wasn't a problem. Seated upstairs with a lively view of reception and the tree. Offered tea, coffee, soft drinks till it was time for afternoon tea. I cannot praise the staff enough, they were helpful and friendly and I felt looked after the whole time I was there.

My stay at the Balmoral was nothing short of incredible from the moment we arrived. After growing up in Perthshire and now living in Sydney I had always wanted to visit. We were celebrating my partners 50th birthday. Upon returning to the room on day two we were greeted with a bottle of champagne from the hotel for my partners birthday, these little personal touches along with the staff turning your bed down in the evening sun up the service at the hotel.We stayed in room 420 which was a corner room with spectacular views of the Arthurs seat, Princess street and off course the Edinburgh castle. We dined in Number One for dinner on our first night. From start to finish the meal was perfect. After staying in many five star hotels around the world I would have to say hands down the Balmoral truly is number one. Nothing was ever too much for the staff, the building itself has so much history and really dominates the Edinburgh skyline with its beauty.
