Romanico Palace Luxury Hotel & Spa

Avoid at all costs! It's nothing like a luxury hotel, let alone a 4-star one. I only gave it one star because the staff were lovely. We were initially given a room that smelled of tobacco, so we asked to change. The next room was smaller and had a connecting door to the room next door. It was awful because there was no double door (something we had at the Ibis the night before our departure). We could hear as if there was a curtain between the two rooms. We asked to change again, and it was the same story: the new room smelled strongly of stale tobacco. So we said no, and we were finally given a room without the smell and without a door leading to a neighbor's room. Our conclusion after seeing four rooms: for the same price, the amenities are not the same, size, condition of the shower, etc. The Ibis Styles at Orly was bigger, more comfortable, and much cheaper. The breakfast is plentiful but not high quality, and always the same thing. But there's a good selection of both savory and sweet options to suit all tastes. The coffee was very good. The breakfast room was very pleasant with a view of Rome. I chose this hotel for the spa, but it turns out the spa is an extra charge, even though this isn't mentioned anywhere—not on Booking.com, the hotel's official website, or their breakfast menu. If I had known, I would have chosen a cheaper hotel… So, just so you know, it's €75 per person for 2 hours (outrageous for such a small spa). In short, a disappointment from beginning to end, except for the quiet, well-located neighborhood with a great restaurant nearby. Avoid it; there are better options in Rome for less money, and of course, we won't be back.

A very nice hotel close to all amenities, in the embassy district. The room was very pleasant, with a typical Italian feel. You're enveloped in gold leaf and there are some nice surprises (two bathrooms, colored spotlights for a soft, ambient atmosphere – perfect after a day wandering the streets of the capital). The staff is pleasant and friendly. The hotel is very quiet and well soundproofed, with a good distribution of occupied rooms (we weren't all crammed together). The breakfast room offers a beautiful view. The minor drawbacks: a lack of specialty items at the breakfast buffet (no panettone in the middle of winter, no pistachio flavor, and the pastries are very sweet – one would expect a little better for a 4-star hotel). The prices at the bar are excessive (€14 for a non-alcoholic cocktail, for example). This is a very good hotel that we recommend.

This hotel is a far cry from the modern style you usually see; you really feel like you're in Rome. The rooms are clean, the staff very friendly, and what's more, we were upgraded. The location is fantastic, with several bus stops right around the hotel.
