Romantik Hotel Sackmann

We had an amazing stay at the Hotel Sackmann. Everything was perfect including sauna area, pools, breakfast, dinner, coffee bar, and available walking routes around the town and near forest and small hills. Beautiful stay overall! If I should mention any feedback on what could have been better, I'd have two things: 1. We stayed via Jochen Schweitzer and received one of the "charm" rooms in the old part of the hotel. We were a bit disappointed as the hotel only advertises its new rooms and it's nowhere mentioned that you get a room in the not-renovated part. The room is actually really ok, however it might be nice to advertise this upfront to manage customer expectations 2. The service at dinner was quite unattentive at times, making it hard to get the attention of the waitresses/waiters without chasing them down, or waving unpolitely and calling out. Having some check-ins at the table now and then would already make a big difference.

This was our first time at Hotel Sackmann, and we have a generally positive impression, even though there's still room for improvement in some areas. Arrival & Service: The online booking and subsequent extension went absolutely smoothly. Contact via chat was straightforward and very friendly. The welcome at the hotel was also warm: Check-in was lightning fast thanks to the pre-booked online check-in, and the welcome glass of sparkling wine was a lovely start. Room & Change: Our original room faced directly onto the busy road (despite the 30 km/h speed limit and speed camera, the noise from the trucks was quite noticeable). Since we were looking for peace and quiet, we asked for a room change. As our category was fully booked, we were given a junior suite at the back for an additional fee. We were allowed to view it beforehand – excellent! We found the side facing the railway line much more pleasant with the window open than the street-facing side. The balcony was a nice bonus. One minor drawback: Since the new room wasn't quite ready, we were asked to take bathrobes and water from our original room. Unfortunately, the previous guests' belongings (slippers in the trash) had been overlooked in the bathroom. Otherwise, it was very clean and the beds were fresh. Wellness: The panoramic sauna and the rooftop pool are visually stunning! Unfortunately, some of the outdoor cushions had mildew/mold, which somewhat detracted from the otherwise high-quality impression. The lower sauna area is "small but perfectly formed" and offers a good variety. The indoor pool and whirlpool are wonderfully inviting for relaxation. Dining & Service: This is where the biggest contrasts lay. While the food was expertly prepared and the selection was fantastic (a great breakfast buffet with ginger shots, freshly squeezed juice, etc.), the service in the regular restaurant was often overwhelmed. Drink orders took a very long time. Particularly disappointing: My cappuccino with oat milk at breakfast tasted more like filter coffee with a shot of liquor – with the explanation that oat milk couldn't be frothed (which should really be standard in this hotel category). The Highlight: Our evening in the gourmet restaurant. The difference here was enormous and worth every penny! A huge thank you to the restaurant manager, Jakob, who guided us expertly through the evening. The sommelier was also superb. The food was outstanding – we wholeheartedly recommend this experience to every guest. In conclusion: We had a wonderful stay and would love to return. If the service could become a bit more efficient and professional in everyday situations, the 4-star superior experience would be perfect.
