Consistently, Google reviews are always higher than those on Yelp. Not sure why... here is my recent review of Rosewood. I've stayed there several times before. And eaten there over 20 times. Thank you to the housekeeping staff and in room dining folks. Housekeeping/In-room dining staff. 5 stars. Front desk staff: 3 stars. Food: 3 stars. Location: 4 stars. This type of hotel (read = costly), should pride itself on the most impeccable staff and information systems. I booked a one night (almost $3000) stay to get away. The moment I step into the building, it should be a whole experience from start to finish, but I was vastly disappointed. The front desk folks seemed reluctant to check me in. Once they took my information, I had to remind HIM that I paid extra for a late checkout the following day. He acted as if I was not truthful, checked his computer (why wasn't it already on the screen, and if it was, how did he miss it?) and said, 'oh yes, you have a late checkout at 2pm). He did remind me that my room came with an $80 credit for food that could be applied to my breakfast (room service or restaurant). There was no offer to ask if I needed help with my bags, he never left behind the counter to show me how to get to my room. Just pointed. Typically when I stay at a costly resort, I am immediately asked if I need help with my bags, and the receptionist will leave the desk to come up to me and guide me a bit towards my room (especially if it is a decent sized resort). He could barely take the time to hand me my keys. I made it to the room. It was very clean. Large bathroom and a half bath. Fireplace and patio. Patio faced the pool, so it was not going to be a place I perched myself to relax. There as a bottle of wine, some hand picked oranges and a hand written note on the table. That was nice. I could not bring up my bill on the TV screen. So their IT department needs to get on that issue. Housekeeping was top notch. Everything incredibly clean/pristine in the room. I ordered room service twice. Room service was top notch as well. Right on time. Very polite. Going out of their way to ask if they should set up, and how to remove my items post-meal. Excellent. Food was okay. I've eaten at Rosewood numerous of times. It's a hit and miss on their food. The atmosphere (eating on the public patio) is what is the best. Skip the desserts/pastries. I had to ask three times for my bill to be sent to me. They kept saying, 'it will be sent within the hour' and I did not get it (yes - I checked my spam folder) They also forgot to credit my account for the $80 breakfast. It seems silly to ask for that when the room was almost $3000, but I felt that they should remember to do that, and be a bit apologetic that they forgot. I used to joke that I wanted to live at the Ritz Carlton in HMB because every staff member would respond with "it would be my pleasure" and they seemed to mean it. The whole front desk experience soured my nice weekend away. I am hoping that this was a one-time issue and that the multiple front-desk people I encountered were new and in the midst of training. I hope the Rosewood fixes any IT issues with billing and knowing upon check in when people have paid extra for the late checkout etc so guests don't have to remind the front-desk people of these add ons.
