Stayed over for our 40th anniversary break, beautiful old looking building which brought me to booking this place as well as great location. We had room 50, ground floor room with french door that opened to the garden. It really wasnt good, the locks on the doors didn't work properly and had to call maintenance, who used the the top bolt which 8ft up and floor bolt to secure the doors... The noise was awful, I get that the building is early 19th century but the room above was so noisy we could not get to sleep, my wife complained to reception the next morning but nothing done, no upgrade.. The following evening was the same, the floorboards squeaked and blanked and we could hear people chatting and laughing next door, I think its a social room or canteen, people were outside till midnight talking and laughing, it sounded as if they were in our room, probably because there is a 15 mm gap underneath the French doors to the garden, draughty too.😔 The bathroom wasn't great, very small and the fixed shower head sent water over the bathroom floor and no Bathmat, we had to use our hand towels to mop up the water in the floor, no wonder the skirting are flaking and coming away.. The towel rad didnt work, not good when a letter in the room says there is no cleaner during our stay and no clean towels unless requested at reception, same as tea bags and milk..😌 When we complained again about the noise the manager a Asian lady called Malina or something like that was very offish and made her excuses. Very poor management skills. Such a shame as we hoped for a lovely weekend away as I was recovering from a cardiac arrest and a heart operation, not what we had planned at all 😔

We had a great stay at The Royal Bath. Bed was comfortable and laundry clean. Plenty of towels, toiletries and refreshments in room. Room was clean and well aired. One of the bed side lamps was not working, but easily fixed with a new bulb. Staff were helpful. We enjoyed the spa facilities too.

The hotel was traditional & we loved it Staff were 10 /10 very friendly & accommodating Loung and dining room areas exeptioal food was only 5 out of ten .no fresh fruit & not hot spa & pool good Didn't like to pay £5 for a swim, even though we could have stayed for the day As hotel guests don't think charge was necessary also £25 a day parking extortionate ! Early in the season so a few things not good Patio need sweeping & front steps Garden bins needed emptying Cobwebs on lights Dirty windows and bits left on sills ( all week) Grubby in wardrobe Liimited sockets, none by bed However we will be back as overall good easy access to shops, restaurants and beach
