If you want a longer and more detailed review, check it out on Trip Advisor. Google limited me here. We stayed at Royalton Negril in October (pre-hurricane) on the Diamond Club side. We only came because friends wanted to go, despite our concerns from previous reviews. Unfortunately, our experience confirmed those concerns. This review won’t be polished because this resort isn’t worth more time than it already took from us. Dining: Zen was underwhelming, tiny portions, limited menu, many items unavailable, and an unhappy server. Calypso was unbearably loud due to the nearby live band, with plain food and menu shortages. El Dorado had the best food overall, though plastic cups and odd salad dressing were a bit of a con. The French restaurant was closed the entire stay. Hunter’s was decent but lukewarm food; the resort was very inhospitable to dietary restrictions, especially vegan-no chef ever came out despite requests. Grazie was “okay” Italian with limited availability, though the pizza and chicken parmesan were good. Armadillo had the friendliest service, but dishes described as specialty items arrived as basic buffet food. The coffee bar had good coffee and pastries, but constantly lacked items like Kahlua and other liquor for coffee. The jerk hut staff were extremely rude; food was fine, but seeing leftovers thrown out for birds to eat to upset their stomachs was upsetting. The buffet often felt better than the à la carte restaurants, which says a lot. Diamond Club liquor wasn’t consistently available, and plastic cups and cutlery were common even at fancy night bars. Room (Penthouse, Diamond Club): We arrived to no welcome champagne, wine, fruit, snacks, robes, or umbrella—all included with Diamond Club. These were only brought days later after we realized what we were missing. The bed sagged badly, the bathroom window had no curtain (the beach could see in), blinds barely worked, doors were difficult and loud, the penthouse pool was visibly uneven, and the room felt worn, dirty, and in need of renovation. Light switches were impossibly confusing, and some amenities didn’t function properly. Beach & Pool: Constant harassment from beach vendors and boats coming too close. Jellyfish were common. Towels were often unavailable unless you arrived early, and they were old and dingy. The Diamond Club pool water level was 2-3 feet too low for a few days, with no explanation. Spa: The “hydrotherapy” was disappointing with no guidance, a broken wet sauna, and hot/cold pools were the same lukewarm temperature. We left early. Service & Logistics: Dinner reservations were extremely difficult for a group of 8; we were often split up until someone in our group escalated to management. Our butlers were average and ruined a planned anniversary surprise by entering the room at the wrong time stated. Indoors everywhere was uncomfortably hot, so bring a fan. The only consistently friendly staff we encountered were on the Hideaway side. One night, during heavy rain, we waited over 30 minutes for a shuttle despite staff and a cart being nearby. Only after repeated confrontation did a manager finally help, apologizing for the mishandling. This could’ve been avoided if we’d been given the umbrella we were supposed to have in our room. This was the worst vacation we’ve ever taken. While we feel for those impacted by the hurricane, even if this resort were rebuilt from the ground up, we would never return to Royalton Negril.

⭐ 1 STAR REVIEW – DO NOT STAY HERE ⭐ Royalton Negril completely mishandled my reservation, double-charged me, and tried to blame ME for their own fraud. I had one of the WORST hotel experiences of my life at this property. At check-in, their staff charged one of my company cards for the room. Immediately after taking the money, the front desk claimed they had to “void” the transaction because the name on the card didn’t match my ID. Then they demanded cash instead. I paid in full again. Guess what? The original card charge was NEVER voided. The hotel kept BOTH payments. To make the situation even worse: • They never gave me a cash receipt • They submitted paperwork to my bank using MY ID to deny the chargeback • They admitted the double charge internally but still refused to fix it • They then demanded personal ID from my employee, who NEVER stayed there, as a stall tactic • Their “customer service” team dragged this out for weeks with excuses and runarounds This is CLEAR mishandling of funds and completely unprofessional for a resort operating under the Marriott umbrella. I now have to involve agencies because Royalton refuses to correct a mistake THEY caused. I will be formally reporting this incident to: • Jamaica Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC) • Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) • Jamaica Hotel & Tourist Association (JHTA) • Marriott Corporate / Autograph Collection Oversight • U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for deceptive business practices • My bank’s fraud division with full documentation Royalton Negril should be ashamed of how they treat paying guests. I travel frequently, and I’ve NEVER dealt with a resort that mishandled money like this and then tried to gaslight the customer. If you value your peace, your money, and your security: STAY FAR AWAY.
