Rübezahlbaude

We have been staying at this hotel for many years and are always very satisfied; the food is excellent and the atmosphere is very nice.

As a couple, we stayed at the Rübezahlbaude in Waltersdorf over New Year's Eve, from December 30, 2025, to January 4, 2026. My wife had inquired at short notice via email and was able to secure a room. We received a warm welcome upon arrival. The room was a good size, and we also had a very nice bathroom with a large shower. Rooms with balconies are also available, which isn't very important in winter. An extra pillow was provided upon request. The flat-screen TV was a bit small and difficult to see from the bed. It would have been better mounted on the wall opposite the bed. We had half-board, which included all drinks and meals. The food was fantastic. For breakfast, there was sparkling wine and salmon, which went together perfectly. The staff, mostly from the Czech Republic, were very friendly. On New Year's Eve, there was a disco and more than enough food. For dessert, each guest was served a slice of a large ice cream bombe, with eggnog upon request. After midnight, a selection of small snacks with cheese and sausages was available for each table. There was also a buffet set up outside the restaurant. It was a very nice and fun evening. There was also a surprisingly large amount of snow, which made the atmosphere even more wonderful. Right behind the hotel was a children's ski lift, which started operating at 10:00 AM. It was very popular with adults and their children. Ski rentals are available, and ski lessons are also offered. The hotel itself has a small pool in the basement. Unfortunately, the massage jets were broken. There is also a sauna, which must be booked at reception. In the summer, there is a swimming pool behind the hotel that can be used. In addition to the Hotel Rübezahlbaude, there is also the Hotel Hubertusbaude, which is also very nice. Both hotels are family-run. There are numerous hiking trails around the hotels, as they are located right on the border with the Czech Republic. There are also many restaurants on the Czech side of the border. It was a very enjoyable vacation. Of course, as is always the case, there were a few minor issues, such as the elevator being out of order for a day or the room keys temporarily not working. However, these were resolved immediately. Many thanks to the hotel staff for the wonderful holiday. We will definitely come back.
