My wife and I had a lovely stay at Rushton Hall. The building and grounds are impressive, the food was fantastic, facilities excellent and the stay were lovely and couldn't have been more helpful.

We stayed over Christmas for a week. Shocking experience. 4/5* rooms & beautiful building, but 2/3* service at best. We sent an email to the manager as encouraged to voice our concerns. No reply. We then sent a card voicing our concerns to the owner. Still no reply. Appalling customer service, shocked to say the least.We won’t be returning or recommending which is disappointing.

Me and some family went to lunch here today, it's a beautiful place and all of the waiting staff were lovely. Sadly the food and following experience was not good. I'm vegan and told them ahead of time. They offered a celeriac roast with the usual trimmings. The portion was very small, I had less vegetables than everyone on my table, what was an expensive slab of beef on other plates was a very thin square of celeriac and an undercooked half an oyster mushroom. There was probably about 400 calories on my plate for £27.50 and it wasn't very tasty either. I pointed these things out, a manager got called in. She quite combatively stood her ground, effectively said that this place wasn't for vegans, and that I was lucky because I had been given potatoes when that wasn't typical (the potatoes were about half my measly plate!). We ended up not paying for that plate but all of us were not feeling good throughout this and thought it was dealt with poorly. Won't be coming back and really don't go for good food! Mine was bad and everyone's food was ok-good but not worth the money. Stick to a wander about and a cup of tea :)
