This hotel really shouldn’t be listed on Luxury Escapes. Our flight arrived early and my wife has business meetings so I went to the hotel alone. I had no expectation that the room would be ready. The only highlight of the entire stay was the friendly welcome by the gentleman at the desk. He gave me an orientation of Christchurch. I returned around 2pm. Different person on the front desk. The room was ready. No offer of help with the bags. My journey to the room was a minefield of room service trays left outside rooms in the corridor. Remember it’s gone 2pm! Room was reasonable. Fairly newly decorated and reasonable size. Really poor amenities for a hotel charging NZ$700 per night! Set out to explore the city again. Returned around 6:30pm to meet my wife. Dirty trays with last nights room service food still in the corridor despite telling staff when I went out earlier. Didn’t bother eating in the hotel but returned to the bar for a night cap. Max 10 people in the bar but waited 30 minutes for our drinks. Restroom between bar and reception dirty. Water and tissues all over the floor. Overflowing bin and a very unpleasant odour! Got breakfast comp’ed as it wasn’t in the price. $700+ per night and they wanted to charge for breakfast! Average buffet breakfast. Staff asked if I wanted coffee. Cappuccino ordered and then presented with a bill. No mention. The luke warm brown sludge in pots is the only coffee included. We were there for 2 night because of wife’s work but couldn’t wait to leave. When we checked out the staff didn’t even speak! Not a ‘how was your stay?’ or ‘thank you for staying with us’. Nothing. I asked for a bill. Told no, get it from Luxury Escapes. Don’t stay here. Luxury Escapes - hotels like this turn your customers away from using your platform.

Excellent hotel in an area destroyed by the 2011 earthquake. 7 minute walk from the center. All amenities are available including a gym and laundry room - for those in the middle of a long trip
